Where O' Where are the wise ones?

It's feeling kinda lonely without some of our fearless leaders and their sage advice. Is any one else feeling this way?

I don't think Esme is feeling well right now, unrelated to AN.

I'm sorry to hear that :(

Fortunatly with age and experience comes wisdom....which I am sure Grntea knew their game and probably called them out on it.

I haven't read what you all are referring to. But seriously, after a while, we "seasoned" nurses probably already know the "flavor" of posters who are here seeking knowledge through others experiences or just wanting to cry victim if we offer a different view point different than their own.

Feel better soon Esme. We love you and Grntea.

I too am dismayed by the "calling out" of our best veterans for no reason other than to launch a personal attack. Nobody should be treated that way, much less a valued member of the AN community that has donated [as in really donated- no pay for that job] their time; sharing their experience, knowledge and wisdom and more often than not receiving negative feedback for their generosity. I would be hesitant to continue offering help if I were in their shoes.

Gee, I have missed most of these threads. Historically, I have found this time of year to be a not-so-good time on allnurses. A lot of students just starting out and asking lots of the same basic questions over and over and over again. Other students getting kind'a bored being out of school over the summer. Staff nurses complaining about the new grads -- and new grads complaining about the experienced nurses.

Since I don't open a lot of those threads, I think I miss some of the drama.

Things usually settle down a bit after school starts and the new grads either settle-in or move on.

Here ya go ... this too shall pass.

Posters ebb and flow here, just as in real life. From time to time, I realize that a poster I used to look forward to reading hasn't been around in a long-ish time. Tweety, HM2Viking, Prmnrs - I miss 'em all. Life - and death - happens.

I think, though, the crusty old bats are just taking a moment to themselves to decompress with a little politically incorrect cackling.

Someone needs to PM me about this thread you're talking about!!!

Me too! Although from the way everyone is talking about it, it probably disappeared in the great abyss.

I too have noticed the increase in hostility directed at long-time members/nurses who, instead of providing what the new posters want to here post suggestions to lead to the answer, try to get the asker to do their own work. I was even told that I failed to contribute "any usable information in regards to the assignment" in one of the "interview" (aka, type out long answers to these questions so I can copy and paste them) threads after pointing out that no one on this site can be verified as being a nurse without revealing at least name and location for a license verification search and that she would learn much more information sitting with a real live person where flexibility in asking questions, clarifying information, and going off on tangents provides a much better wealth of information. There is no point in trying to help someone who then turns around and says your help was of no value.

Red Jello, forever!

Just gotta say it, though... Red Jello sux... Now green Jello I can get excited about... but I can never find it.

Nice to see people leaping to the defense of GrnTea and Esme (and her Weimy)...

Pretty sure those tough old birds have no need of it but appreciate it nonetheless.

I think it always feel good to be noticed especially if you are just being helpful. Watching the "like" number increase can make it worthwhile even in the face of venom.
