Where O' Where are the wise ones?

It's feeling kinda lonely without some of our fearless leaders and their sage advice. Is any one else feeling this way?

I've found as a staff member on several sites, that the terms of service are usually bypassed in the rush to start one's agenda. Quite often one also sees a new member "pushing the envelope" as long as they can and you have to assume that they know better. It comes with the pay.

Too bad I didn't see it. Might have lured me out to smack someone....then again, maybe it's GOOD I didn't see it :speechless:

At least 4 or 5 members took issue with the attacker, in a reasonably professional manner. ;)

It has indeed been unreasonably hostile on AN of late. Hostile and dense, I might add.

I don't mind a good, intelligent debate, but I wouldn't insult the terms "good", "intelligent" or "debate" with some of the issues being batted about of late. New users refusing to follow the TOS. People getting their panties bunched when someone offers up the truth in a situation, offended that someone had the gall to tell it like it is without sugar-coating the response. And then the deluge of ad-hominem, presumptuous accusations that the OPs hurl at those who dare reply--ironically, doing the very thing they accuse the respondents of doing.

I'll be happy when everyone gets their meds refilled and heads back to their holes of origin.

Sadly the new posters are still seeking out threads to spread their nastiness when the wise ones write the truth and offer insight. It's pretty sad. There was one earlier today that sought out GrnTea but for no other reason to be mean...

GrnTea is one of my absolute favorite posters. She's in my opinion smart, very knowledgeable and has a sense of humor. I imagine that the person attacking her had been on the receiving end of her razor-sharp wit. That can probably be an unnerving experience.

In my opinion you'd have to be a fool of epic proportions to not value all the advice and help she offers. It's that person's loss if she or he chose to ignore the advice given. I haven't actually seen this specific thread but I've read enough of GrnTea's posts to know that her willingness to help a student is undeniable, her knowledge base is sound, her advice is sage and her sometimes mildly sarcastic sense of humor makes me chuckle.

Ironically (and I can't find the thread right now) the poster had 6 or 7 posts to their credit and not one in a forum that GrnTea frequents. I could understand if someone interprets written word as biting or harsh as you cannot interpret tone of voice. Even sarcasm can be misinterpreted in forums. But this poster sought out GrnTea in this case and posted off topic and directed at GrnTea.

There are a few newer members lately seeking out/stalking others to "personally attack".

They're probably lurkers out there with a HUGE chip on their shoulder that is specifically waiting on their opportunity to strike...that's why I'll always love my siggy line. ;)

Wow....about Grn Tea and others who are being moderated and scolded. This is the "dumbing down" of AN. I'm a new member but an older nurse, I guess I don't understand the politics very well. To Esme, Grn Tea and all the others and you know who you are, I am at your service. Truly.
