I can't even wrap my head around this one.

Someone who believes nurses were trained that way or saw themselves like that waaayyyy back in the '60s and '70s. Neither I or anybody I knew back then had that attitude. Kind of a flashing neon sign for troll in my view.
Why people enjoy exploiting tragedy like that, to me is still a mystery.

I'm familiar with the hospital in question and it frankly doesn't surprise me. Private practice physicians with a high percentage of wealthy clientele in a predominantly wealthy bedroom community outside Denver. A lot more likely to let ****** physician behavior than at one of the teaching hospitals like UCH or Denver Health.

The RN will be paid an undisclosed 7 figure out of court settlement.
Move along folks. Nothing to see here.
I hope this does happen. I hope for more, but I'm realistic.
And don't tell me to move along. Nurses need to speak OUT when stuff like this happens.

Agreed ^^^. We need to keep talking about this. We need to be outraged. This needs to stop being a norm.
And for those of you saying, "I'd give the guy and upper cut" or "use those safety scissors ..." I was assaulted by a patient last weekend. I didn't see it coming, although I knew he was agitated. Once the guy was on me I didn't have a chance; it was all I could do to keep moving and it wasn't til other staff came that I was OK. When you're in a position like that your chances go wayyyyyy down because the element of surprise gets you. It also didn't help this guy was probably 150 lbs and an entire foot bigger than me.
This nurse was lucky. This guy needs to be in jail, whatever his excuse. He could have killed her. He definitely changed her life forever.
It makes me sick, and that he's still full of excuses in this article makes me ragey.
