What's Your Best Nursing Ghost Story?

Nurses General Nursing Nursing Q/A

Nursing is a profession that often involves long lonely night shifts in eerie hospital wards. It's a perfect breeding ground for ghost stories. These stories often involve sightings of apparitions, strange noises, and unexplained events that are said to have taken place in hospitals, hospices, and other healthcare settings. Some of these stories are believed to be based on true events, while others are purely fictional. Regardless, they continue to captivate and intrigue both nurses and non-nurses alike - providing a spooky glimpse into the world of healthcare after dark.

Another night we went into a room with a pt who was in for 23 hr observation(gastro related). No pain meds, pt was alert, only in her 40s...no mental history...lol.....We went in to check on her and she's turned away from us,facing the wall. She was awake, but kind of jittery. We asked if she wa ok and she said yes, but the man in her room freaked her out. WHAT??? She said she turned off the tv, clicked off her light and when she turned over, saw a man sitting next to her bed. He spoke to her and was very surprised she could see and hear him. He told her not to be scared, that he just kind of kept an eye on the floor. And he was gone. She never called us, she said we'd think she was crazy.

scary

When things like this happen. Can't you get the hospital minister to bless the room?
Especially when you have ones like the possessed guy who's cries could be heard for hours after he died. Come on the place and all the staff needed an excorsism after that! Yes, some of this is caused by the devil.
:uhoh21: That is actually pretty sad. I don't find the humor in that. And I like to think I have a good sense of humor.
here is the humor, she shouldn't have been laying in bed with the patient sleeping.:nono: She was there to watch her right? So it served her right. It of course is allways sad when a person dies.
I read the entire story and I understood she had been lying beside a dead body for hours. But when the Poster was laughing that the caregiver was in the corner shaking...........I didn't find that funny. And believe me, I have a good sense of humor. But don't find humor in someone else's sadness.
She wasn't sad she was freaked out.

When I first moved into my house (alone) I bought a new TV. After watching the news I used my brand-new remote control (my old TV didn't have one) to turn it off. I took a long, hot shower and when I got out I could hear talking... you guessed it... my TV was on!!! I froze!! I called out to make sure I was still alone and turned the TV off again. And again, it came back on. I have since learned that to turn my BRAND-NEW TV off I have to set it to "sleep". Has anyone else had this problem?? Do you think there could be a ghost in my quaint little cottage?? (really, I don't think I could stand it!!)

I have been reading these stories while in triage most of tonight.(It's unusually slow around here), my phone just rang and it scared the hell outta me! I still love these stories... no new ones from me, yet.. but once I get some time I will share some from the other campus across town where a good friend of mine works!

Having roses appear from nowhere and smelling roses can be contributed to St. Therese of Lisieux, a Catholic nun from France who died very young. I cannot remember exactly what she is the patron saint of but it involves something along the line of hopeless causes or the sick or dying. Having roses appear or smelling roses is a good sign, although a bit unsettling.

She is the Patron Saint of Little children. This may be why she is in delivery. Beautiful story :)

( A "Monsignor" is a member of the Clergy who is higher than a Priest, but lower than a Bishop, or so I understand. I felt the Spirit I met fit into that category. )

It's a special title conferred on some priests but is not a specific office or authority.

I wonder if the facility ever had Catholic priests who came to perform Mass for the patients? Maybe one died there or soon after a mass there.

They never saw or heard anything.. I guess it was poltergeist???

Now I've gotten my self all scared.... sheesh... i sure hope my roommate hurries home!

Not unless there was a teenager in the house.......a girl.
