What's in your pocket(s)?

Published

just for fun.............

if i walked up to you two hours into your shift and asked you to empty your pockets onto the table, what would we see?

what type of unit do you work in?

i'm curious what nurses have on them at all times.

thanks!

Specializes in General adult inpatient psychiatry.

Alcohol pads, a sharpie, a red pen, a black pen, change, patient census list, report sheet, brains for on-coming shift report, lip gloss/chapstick, my cell phone and change. Hoorah for scrub tops with pockets and pants with cargo pockets too. I never have enough space in my pockets when I go to work in business casual.

I work on a short stay adult inpatient psych unit.

Forgot about my chapstick, I found the best kind ever and so I keep a few tubes around just in case.

Specializes in Geriatrics, Transplant, Education.

Keys to my med cart, pocket sized pulse oximeter, pens, sharpie, alcohol wipes...not too much...i pretty much keep my med cart stocked with what I'd need. Occasionally you might find an alcohol wipe or 4x4 with wound measurements on it

I work 3-11pm on a subacute rehab unit.

A handful of gloves, a pen, a piece of paper with the shift's showers on it (and probably by 2 hours into the shift, little notations next to names with bowel status) and the key to my locker.

Assistant nurse in nursing home.

I was a CNA for over 15 years and always kept chapstick, breath mints/gum, pen, pt. care list with VS and completed tasks, and some change/cash for snacks/soda.

As an RN student (graduate May 2010 WOOT), I keep my scope (drives me crazy around my neck), gum/mints, chapstick, pen, penlight, watch, my time management sheet (at my school we are required by our clinical instructors to fill one out before we care for our pts each day) with pt VS/tasks to be completed, etc., cash/change for snacks/soda. Yes, I have VERY full pockets!!
