We all have that one injury we see that just bothers us. We can see so many different things yet there's one that is over the top. For me it's nails. My left nail was pulled up on my thumb yet not all the way to displace it. Gross.
My kryptonite is moldy dentures. I had a patient come from a nursing home to my ED with some mossy, nasty dentures in her mouth. 10 years in the ED and that was the only thing that ever made me hurk a little bit.
I had a "what's your kryptonite" thread in the ED forum some years ago, there were some real winners! LOL.
Edited to add: found it! https://allnurses.com/whats-kryptonite-t341302/
I worked in dentistry for many years before going back to nursing school. Now I work in ophthalmology, retina specifically where we do about 120 intravitreal injections in a week =)
GAG! I couldn't even be in the room when they did eye injections for my grandma's macular degeneration. Eyes gross me out!
Burns, especially 3rd degree. Can't think of anything worse to happen to a person. The after-effects are horrendous and last pretty much forever. Read the book, The Convert, available on Kindle.
I worked in a Peds ER when I was a student. Little girl came in with 3rd degree burns. The trauma room smelled like burned pork roast, and I couldn't stomach the thought of eating meat for a long time.

We don't allow anyone to stay while we do them, this bring right up there in reasons why! :).
I think I can trace my aversion to eyeballs back to grade school when, in their infinite wisdom, a couple of teachers decided it would be educational and "cool" to show us the video of another teacher's cataract surgery.
