What's the one injury that bothers you no matter what?

Published

We all have that one injury we see that just bothers us. We can see so many different things yet there's one that is over the top. For me it's nails. My left nail was pulled up on my thumb yet not all the way to displace it. Gross.

Eyes. And don't EVER show me a tendon 'cause I am NOT INTERESTED!

Dislocated or fracture patella. I have dislocated mine and the sight of it made sick to my stomach. When I was a rad tech, I x-rayed many patellar fractures. Again, the sight of it made me cringe. Interestingly enough, I never had a problem with compound fractures, broken noses, blood, etc. Just the patellar injuries. Don't know why. I think it's more about how it looks. My patella slid over, in the wrong location. Or seeing a poor kid with a fx of the patella, the two parts separated and poking out. Gag.

I also hate the sound of bone being scraped, broken, splintering, etc. The sound, shiver.

Depends, injury to myself that bothers me is just about any...I am a major wimp! Injuries to others that bother me would be anything eyeball related. I love protruding, exploding eyes...on TV shows, in real life if I were confronted with this I think I'd probably pass right out.

I don't work in the ED for the very reason that I don't like too many of the displaced injuries: no open fractures, etc. I work on and ortho floor and the degloving ones are pretty bad, even after repair. Sometimes we get some really bad Stage IV ulcers which are no fun either.

Just reading about your injury made me feel faint.

Sorry that happened. Ouch.

Eye wounds.

Amen.

It's the finger nails for me too:dead:

Right there with ya.

Compound fractures and crush injuries.

Noooooo, that's the GOOD STUFF!!! (Former OR Ortho nurse ) For me, it's the eye stuff, now that's gross!!!! :yuck:

When I was in labor/delivery it was 4th degree lacerations. I won't go into detail, but any L/D nurse knows what I am talking about......bad news.

I just saw one of those *shudder*...all the way to the orifice. 😨

Degloving looks like it would hurt like a mo-fo!

No glove, no love. :p

Hand sanitizer is the quickest, most efficient method of finding paper cuts! Strange how sometimes you don't even realize you have a paper cut until you look down and see blood - then YOUCH!!

Also would make a good "Would You Rather"

Would you rather have one rather deep slice that necessitates stitches or many tiny paper cuts all over your body?

I think the hand sanitizer makes it feel better! [emoji16]

Open fractures and traumatic amputation. :dead:
