What's your favorite pair of nursing shoes?

Which brand and why? For some reason, I've tried NB, Adidas and my feet still hurt!!!! Maybe I need to buy those gel soles or something..

Dansko professionals! Love them! Will last for years.

Barefoot and in my boot socks. I take my shoes off frequently while running around the unit..generally in my patient's room, all our ICU beds are good sized private rooms surrounded in glass enclosures. I sure like being barefoot!!! Shoes suck!!! put them on when walking in the general ICU areas.

Try it, feels good to take a shoe break

crocs, hands down...i can throw them in the washer if anything gets spilled on them, and add a bit of bleach...and at work, they make my 12 hour days much more comfy...just like bedroom slippers, yup...

I feel like I have tried EVERY brand of nursing shoe/sneaker available and all have hurt my feet terribly, but, I have finally found one I love--Dansko's! They are so comfy, the arch support is excellent. I spend over 10 hours per day on my feet in the OR, and they are the only ones that I can wear and don't leave work limping!

I know lots of nurses i worked with in Canada would wear Danskos, too...i wondered if they weren't too rigid...but if you wear them in the OR, standing all day...hmmm, i might have to rethink this...:idea:

In Canada, i would wear Holey Soles, but i can't find them here...they are cheaper, at $!9/pr, online at holeysoles.com but i don't think they would last as long here in the desert of Arizona..the material seems softer, and they wear out really fast...:uhoh3:

Crocs, crocs, crocs. They are so comfy. Danskos are ok, but I worry about the ankle twist. AND......the croc stop wont happen if you pick up your feet when you walk!

"Dusty's" by Klogs. I work 12 hours, go shopping after work, am pregnant, currently weigh 250 pounds, and my feet still feel the same as when I put them on.

I'm breaking in a pair of "Caitlins" by Dansko. They are more cushioned and flexible than the original "Professionals" and have elastic gussets to make pulling them on easier and releive pressure on the top of the foot.

Be careful of Crocs with holes in the toe box. OSHA says this is a violation of toe protection. Many places have banned them. Check your facility's policy on them. Ask safety/ infection management, not Suzi nurse from down the hall, because most people don't know they aren't allowed. Even my unit manager didn't know they were banned at our facility.
