Which brand and why? For some reason, I've tried NB, Adidas and my feet still hurt!!!! Maybe I need to buy those gel soles or something..
Lori,
I too have a heel problem. They burn like fire after 12.5 hrs of walking and standing. I was wearing New Balance 608, but they are not doing the job anymore. After hitting about 7-8 stores looking for right shoes, bought a pair of rockers clogs and a pair of quarky quarks tonight. Hoping for the best. I'm too old to hurt that bad every night after work. Maybe 23 years of this is just too much. Let me know how you like your new shoes. I haven't tried mine yet. **********I'm in Indiana too, but wish I was in Tennessee where our daughter is.*********** :innerconf
I have low arches, plantar's fasciitis, and low back spinal stenosis, and hands down, my Nikes are the best for me. I once read an article (sorry, don't remember where) that helped people pick walking shoes, sneakers, etc by the type of feet they have, and sure enough, Nikes are built for-low arched feet. If you're having trouble finding shoes that don't hurt, maybe you can track down this article, or another like it.
I have dansko clogs, love them!
I have secondary question to add to this forum....does anyone wear compression socks? I like the knee high compression socks to keep my legs from getting tired but i hate how synthetic they are (no cotton at all) This causes a problem with foot odor and I am wondering if anyone else has this issue (and is brave enough to admit it)

Tee-hee - not embarrassed to admit it, stinky feet happen (quite a lot in my family;).) There is a brand that makes compression hose of cotton blend, nice and thick, too - I'll look them up and post it for you.
On those cotton support hose - found a few brands.
ComfoMED, cotton blend, firm compression
Jobst Active, cotton blend, moderate or firm compression
Jobst Sensifoot (not cotton, but claim to be "moisture wicking" to keep feet dry), mild compression, especially good for diabetics or those, like me, whose toes are extremely sensitive to "sock bumps" - otherwise known as seams
Medi Motion Sport (also not cotton, but moisture wicking), don't know compression rating
Siqvaris, cotton lined, firm or extra firm compression
I own lots of Softspots slip ons and just bought a white pair for clinicals. They are super comfy! Some of their styles are, ummm, dated...but they have modern, younger looking shoes, too. I have DOUBLE wide feet, so I've never been able to buy cheapie shoes or try too many of the brands everyone seems to like.
