as inspired by another thread, here's a motivational question! i guess this is more of a question for those of us who haven't had a real career before nursing....

what will you do with your first "real" paycheck?

i'm going straight to the salon. new cut, highlights, facial, mani, pedi...the works!

then, straight to the mall with my plastic because for the first time in my life it won't be just for "emergencies" anymore!

i can't wait!

hehe... i was just wondering, where exactly are you guys planning on working? I want to work wherever it is that's going to pay you all this money to do these things you're mentioning... you do know you're going to have a nursing salary, right?? not exactly glamorous... ;)

Start paying off my massive student loan, give my mom something as a thanks for all her help, start a savings account, start looking into financing a new vehicle (god I can't wait to have HEAT in my car!), and start getting together money for a new bed. Ahhhh I can dream, right?

I am going to buy myself a car that doesn't overheat, HAS heat, doesn't flood when it rains or make strange noises going down silent back country roads, and has all of the buttons that it is supposed to on the dash and none of the lights that it ISNT supposed to have (can you say "check engine light" anyone?). Oh, and I'm going to buy a mega uber emergency kit complete with spare tire, spare doughnut, tire inflation kit, half a dozen cans of fix-a-flat, a battery charger/jump start kit, and a spare cell battery for the glove compartment.

Omg do we drive the same car?!?

i want to save most of it for about 2 years. and eventually have enough saved over the two years to have an emergency fund started and a down payment for a house.

Saving it. And all the rest for about 2 years. My husband and I have been able to get by for the last 3 yrs on his paycheck alone. Why spend like its any different? After 2 years of straight deposits to my savings account I will have a nice bundle for a down payment on a house.

I plan on going to Washington DC (never been, really want to visit). I also plan on doing something very special for the hubby... just for being so supportive, he's my rock. :heartbeat & then save for my kitchen renovation.

I think we could be quite comfy living with the budget that I had as a customer service rep & sockin away the rest. We've been getting by ok w/his check, & my measely .2 as a PCT.

Frame it..............and just look at it....:D

Save it all for 2-3 yrs so my little girl and I can have our own home.

Pay off our credit cards and save as much money as possible for 2 years or so for a downpayment on a house. If my car finally dies get a new, modest vehicle, I drive a 98 Neon that I have had since 2000!! That's about it for the paycheck!

good question, you know what here in the Philippines there has been a belief that if you gave your first salary to your parents it would bring goodluck I dont know but I did it before actually I just kinda did it coz I didnt gave them all I save some for myself..just sharing

As unexciting as this sounds, I'm using my first check to help pay off some debt. A couple more after that will take care of it in full.

Then, I'm thinking a Blackberry decked out to the nines.

Well, we've been living on a Navy enlisted salary only for 14 years so it doesn't take much for me to feel rich and glamorous. LOL!
