What do you think about with current News and Opinions?

Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!

It staggers me that republicans are putting us or trying to take us back to the 9th to 15th century when autocratic monarchies and ecclesiastical hierarchies dominated. Until Martin Luther who encouraged people to increasingly assert their rights to individual liberty which invented capitalism as an economic system because of the flexibility it allowed for private property rights, personal choice, entrepreneurship and innovation. It created democracy as a governing system to protect those rights! 

Our country originated on those Lutheran ideas and now these POS are trying to gaslight us and those uneducated fools in Washington think they know what's best for us! 

Joe Biden needs to pull his finger out and get a move on. Twist Manchin arms or kick him out. Take him out of every committee and blacklist him, because he's going to be the reason for Women's rights to fall, for Dems to lose the midterms and for a complete setback to the country four years ago. I love individualism but not in politics! He is supposed to represent the party and not his beliefs. The republicans are representing their party even if their ideals are flawed.

I listen to the Sunday morning free tv news programs on ABC, NBC and CBS. I download and watch Chris Wallace on Fox.  

Chuck Todd is the worst interviewer.  Chris Wallace is the best. 

Change my mind.

I forget to watch Wallace, but from clips I've seen, I like how he pushes to get answers to his questions. 

I watch ABC to only to see Rahm Emanual and Chris Christie take shots at each other. 

But you are correct, Chuck Todd is the worst. I refer to him as Chuck Toad.

Chuck Todd was an excellent political commentator and reporter on MSNBC  but I gather people don't like him as an interviewer.  

Ted Cruz recently said about the military trying to recruit diversity  "We have the greatest military on earth, but Dem politicians & woke media are trying to turn them into pansies,"

I have an opinion  about that, but I'm not really liking the idea that conservatives are now spitting out "woke" like it's a dirty word and an insult.  They did the same thing with "politically correct". 

Pretty much every day Fox News has something negative to say about "woke culture" and I guess the word "wokeism" is a thing.

As aways it seems like the majority when the rest of us assert ourselves and want to be included they want to insult and shoot us down.

I think in some ways being anti-woke is racist since "stay woke" is a phrase that was picked up and used by BLM.

I do understand that sometimes people get a bit out of hand.  Like trying to include transgendered men that give birth and calling them "birthing persons" rather than the feminine "mothers".  Republicans and Fox News went wild with the "they are trying to cancel the word 'mother'".  Just like the "there's a war on Christmas and we can't say Merry Christmas".  I just can't even....

I'm not a cable tv person so I didn't get to know Chuck Todd in that role. He asks terrible questions and rarely is prepared with a thoughtful follow up. 

So much of what is broadcast from a "conservative" perspective is simply propaganda and nonsense designed to keep their viewers anxious and angry enough to simply believe what sounds good to them at the moment.  According to conservatives, all of the holidays are under some attack by liberals now.  I mean, apparently it's unpatriotic to enjoy your long memorial day weekend in the era of Trump.  The silly and amplified fears and anxieties of "social conservatives" are obnoxious, at this point.

His show "The Daily Rundown" was very good and he often on Morning Joe on MSNBC and other shows where he gave really good political analysis.  Perhaps it's a case of being so good at your job that you're promoted to a point of incompetence and you should have stayed at what you were good at.  

I wonder if Cruz stopped to think about what he's saying.  Did the Dems and media decide "lets try to make the military pansies by recruiting more minorities that reflect the true America".  Maybe he needs to really look at why the military is struggling to meet recruitment goals rather than criticize an outreach to more persons.  

Anyway, I get annoyed with the fear mongering.  "The War On Christmas!"  "They are coming for your guns!"  "They hate America!"  "They want to cancel you!!".  

Left wing media is annoying as well.

Yeah, all media outlets have a bias, and I think spend too much time editorializing and not enough on reporting and searching for facts. I grew up watching Walter Cronkite and didn't think I had to worry about what his political leanings were. And if there was an opinion piece, such as Eric Severeid, they labeled it as such. 

My issue with Todd is the same as TMB. He is just terrible at interviewing, and won't press for an answer to the question. And then he says "we'll have to leave it there." No doggone it, what you say is "I've given you 3 chances and you refuse to answer the question."

I know Meet The Press has been on a long time, and I've never known it to be all that hard hitting in interviews which is probably why so many guests are willing to go on it for all these years.  I think it's the longest running show on television since the late 40s(?).  I think "we'll leave it there" acknowledges they are refusing to answer the question.  But by the time he left his news analysis positions I dropped cable.
