Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!
1 hour ago, toomuchbaloney said:Sure. First, has anyone determined exactly what happened? I know that you are implying that this novel pandemic started in a Chinese lab and the should be consequences for that if true. Shouldn't there be proof before there are consequences?
Also, if this was a lab leak...why were so many conservatives unwilling to follow basic mitigation to protect the economy and fellow countrymen from the Chinese threat? Why did so many conservatives basically throw themselves in front of that Chinese pandemic train and refuse to mask, distance or vaccination against the disease? Was it because Trump told them that it wasn't a big deal and mitigation was optional? Why didn't Trump follow up on his publicly expressed concerns about the origins of the virus? Didn't his intelligence community contradict his claims about the origins?
Senator Paul has not provided you or anyone else proof of his gain of function suspicion. In spite of his loud claims he has provided no proof. Should we take action based in his suspicion?
Now let's talk about accountability. What should that look like...should it be strictly economic? Should the world impose the same accountability that we suffered when a pandemic spread from our shores?
Trump was the president...the most powerful individual on this continent and he said it repeatedly in direct contradiction to the public health experts that he used in his covid briefings. Because people didn't know much about the novel virus, Trump's intentional lies and misinformation (from a powerful political figure) confused people down a path that resulted in widespread disease and death with the subsequent economic upheaval that we are trying to recover from now. Trump's words were and are consequential as a political leader. Shouldn't there be consequences for Trump's verbal malfeasance that resulted in widespread death and economic destruction?
If there's a deadly respiratory contagion spreading across the globe will it work to close your borders to SOME travelers from SOME regions and countries? That's what Trump tried, he tried to close our borders to travelers from China...unless they were citizens returning home or some business. He closed travel from some European countries for some people. It failed spectacularly. It's important that at the same time some people were restricted from traveling from China or 26 European countries, Trump was downplaying the virus, calling it a flu and telling the public that it was going to go away...so his followers didn't believe it was dangerous enough to mitigate personally but dangerous enough to restrict travel for other people.
I don't know what you are trying to say with those words unless you are admitting that you are occasionally sidetracked by propaganda.
I may be wrong but I get the impression that you pretty much blame Trump for the whole thing. As I said, he could have handled it better. Why do we not have outrage for Gov. Cummo(sp) and the nursing home deaths?
At the very least, a full investigation should be done. Also China did not report their outbreak soon enough. Didn't Taiwan report it? ( I have to do some research on this).
15 hours ago, Tweety said:Speaking of covid, it's burning through liberal Colorado that has a whopping 80% vaccination rate and hospitals are stressed with some of the highest rates of covid in the country.
The Hill apparently quoted the Colorado governor about vaccine rates at 80% but the state DOH site report only 61% fully vaccinated.

Trump was in charge. Trump was the chief executive of the executive branch of the federal government. It was Trump's job to coordinate the federal response to a national threat.
Are you unaware of the scrutiny that is targeting the Cuomo response? Shouldn't that scrutiny be shared by the governors of other states who failed the pandemic test...like the Dakotas or Florida or Alaska?
Yeah, you should probably do some more research...preferably in some sources more credible than The Blaze. But again...why didn't Trump get to the bottom of that and implement some accountability for what you believe (and Trump suggests) happened? Better yet, what is your country of residence recommending relative to punishing China for the pandemic?

Well. The democrats have more control in NY so that's why there is a lack of accountability. Do you find it interesting that when this whole nursing home scandal was coming out, several of Cummo's "victims" came forward? To deflect from the seniors that died because Cummo and his poor decisions? Before that he was being praised as a covid hero! Such dishonesty.

Oh I would love to go somewhere else to get more info than the Blaze. Unfortunately I had to find some on the Blaze because any other liberal source full of BS or not there at all........
However you really didn't comment on the content that I specified in that video. Nope just tried to discredit the source. As usual......
It was Trumps fault his fault everything is Trump's fault. He has a flatulence he's the biggest green house gas emitting source. He was racist he closed the borders but he didn't close them soon enough. He probably made the virus in his own lab and let it go in China then blamed China........
Bla bla bla. Getting so old. You wonder why the demorats lost in Virginia
@Beerman: NYC and New Jersey had high death rates for a reason. If you could just bear hard and think for a moment you might be able to figure it out. But since I'm too impatient for that to happen, here it is: NYC and Newark airports had flights coming in from Wuhan. It's always scary what people might accidently bring in. Secondly, they were hit first. We had no experience taking care of these patients. It took a few weeks to figure out therapeutics like proning. They didn't have adequate PPE. People live in crowded living conditions sharing elevators and common spaces in apartment buildings. It was Winter. There is NO comparison between conditions in NYC and Florida. You can't make a pissing contest out of it.
23 hours ago, Tweety said:Yes, certainly being 8th per capita infections isn't something to brag about.
That wasn't my point.
Our percent of positivity here in Florida is 3% and 2.1% in the county where I live and we're a busy tourist destination about to enter into our "season". Over 65 are vaccinated at 89%, plenty of people are still wearing masks but I don't as a thrice vaccinated person unless it's required. Some businesses like my vet require them, but my current yoga studio starting this week dropped it. Concert venues are a mixed bag with one 2,000 venue without restrictions and the 20,000 venue requiring vaccines to attend.
We had Halloween and the street fair for halloween drew nearly 200,000 people over the course of the weekend. We are thriving. I'm reading that Canadian snowbirds will be finally returning this year as well.
Yes we've paid a high price for the freedom not to wear a mask, for businesses to decide what they need to do to survive, and for voluntarily vaccinations.
But we will also now be the leader on how to emerge from a pandemic and live it while not having it front and center controlling our lives.
Some who lost loved ones to covid may say the price is too high and we should have been more strict. Others who lost their business (like my former yoga studio and my former barber) or got deep in debt are bitter. I read an article that Tampa Bay lost billions due to covid.
I know you can't put a price on lives lost and the suffering of covid.
But you just did put a price on Florida's deaths and mayhem when you justified it in the name of freedom and business.
QuoteState Senate President Stephen Sweeney, one of New Jersey's most powerful Democrats, has lost his re-election bid to a little-known trucker, according to a call of the race Thursday by the Associated Press.
But the apparent winner, Edward Durr, declined to declare victory Thursday.
Sweeney, a union president who's held the 3rd District seat since 2002, could not be reached for immediate comment.
Sweeney's apparent defeat has caused turmoil in Trenton, where Senate Democrats have postponed a leadership caucus originally scheduled for Thursday.

So, you tried to confirm information from The Blaze but could find no other credible media that was reporting it and to you that means that the liberal press is ignoring it? To most people that means that the credible press is not reporting this thing that titillated consumers of conservative media because they couldn't verify the accuracy of the titillating thing. Such an unverifiable thing, circulated without evidence to a targeted audience is what propaganda is...incredible, often inflammatory reporting, in partisan outlets, unverified but repeated as true anyway...

Trump was in charge, he was the fellow elected to lead the nation through a serious national emergency and he failed the country in some pretty obvious ways. I have provided a couple articles which clearly outline Trump's failures relayed to covid. Trump certainly convinced you and others that we must hold China accountable for the pandemic but he just didn't think it was important to actually prove that there was anything actually nefarious about the emergence of the virus. And why, if Trump supporters believe that this was some sort of an intentional action on the part of China, wouldn't those Trump supporters want to mask distance and vaccinate to thwart the Chinese effort to make the country sick and hurt our economy?
No, I don't wonder about that election. I would have been surprised and wondered had it gone the other way. But then, I pay attention to politics and history and my memory isn't too bad for an old guy.
