What is the passing test grade at your school?

I was recently accepted to a nursing program where I learned that the passing test grade was a 78. Needless to say I can't stop thinking about this and it has me super nervous. I spoke to a friend of mine at a local universtity and his passing grade is 80 and but another friend of mine hers is only 70 at her NRSG school. I think what worries me the most are the post that say that nrsg school is so difficult and getting a C is an accomplishment. So this has made me even more worried.

So I am just curious what are the passing grades at your school? And is a 78 excessive or is this the norm in nursing school?

Ours was 75% for exams (and 75% total end of term) so you could bomb a couple tests and still pass if you aced the final, EVERYTHING else was pass/fail (care plans, skills check offs, papers, clinicals and alternate clinicals etc)

I dont know about you guys but I wouldnt want a nurse who just barely passed working on ME while im vacationing in the hospital.

Book smarts won't help you 100%....good nursing helps much more. You can be awful at taking tests, and be a better nurse than an A+ student.

I know what you're saying, but I just think it's dependant on the person in question.

For the record, I haven't failed a test yet. I pray I don't.

Passing is 78--and believe me they make you work for it.

75% at our school is considered an "unsuccessful" -- however, that is overall.. so you can do poorly on an exam as long as you maintain the 75% average overall.

There is a school here in Southern Nevada (USN - University of Southern Nevada) and it is a newly developed nursing school. From what I have heard, they have it where anything below a 90% A is considered unsuccessful. However, that particular school allows you to retake exams if you get below a 90% and from what I understand you have 3 chances on each exam to make a 90%. They said that all of their graduates will graduate with a 4.0. It sounds like grade inflation to me and not really ethical on the schools part.

That does sound pretty fishy to me,

My school is 70 but I really feel it should at least be 75. We have some bad apples, personality and academically in our class that linger at a constant 70 average.. 70 is way to close to just barely passing.. I dont know about you guys but I wouldnt want a nurse who just barely passed working on ME while im vacationing in the hospital.

That way to judgemental

93-100= A

86-92=B

80-85= C

Less than an 80 and you fail. No rouding on any test grades (i.e I got a 89.59 and that is not a 90) Needless to say there are very few, if any, As from each class.

At Mott here in Michigan, we have to have an 80% to pass.

77%, I was hoping for 75:down:

87% is the lowest B, anything lower than a B and your out... Masters program. it almost made me cry when I read that. ...

We have to have an 85% test average or else you have to retake the class. It is stressful...every point counts so much!

78% no rounding is passing for my school in Wisconsin. Used to be 74% until second semester of this past school year. We also must pass the ATI tests at a Level II or we are out.
