What is the passing test grade at your school?

I was recently accepted to a nursing program where I learned that the passing test grade was a 78. Needless to say I can't stop thinking about this and it has me super nervous. I spoke to a friend of mine at a local universtity and his passing grade is 80 and but another friend of mine hers is only 70 at her NRSG school. I think what worries me the most are the post that say that nrsg school is so difficult and getting a C is an accomplishment. So this has made me even more worried.

So I am just curious what are the passing grades at your school? And is a 78 excessive or is this the norm in nursing school?

At my school, 77 is passing.

Our school is a 77% and 100% on the medication test every semester. Every semester the final is increased in load 1st semester worth 20%, 2nd 30%, 3rd 40% and the last semester is 50%.:o

Passing is 80, which nets you a C.

Scoring between 86-93 gets you a B.

To get an A, you need 94 or above.

Seems like a similar trend going on here... the grading scale at my school is:

A- 92.51-100

B- 84.51-92.50

C- 76.51-84.50

F- 0-76.50

Plus a math/dosage calculations test each semester, on which you must get a 90 to pass that semester, otherwise you fail.

Last semester we bumped up from 76 to 78%

80, and they do not round up.

We have lost about 12 students who made 79.

75% at my school to pass class overall. 80% on Drug Calc 75% on Medical Terminology etc etc

Speaking of drug cal and other stuff...

We have a Math test each year (3 yrs) where you have to get a 96% to continue in the program.

The first mod you had to pass EACH class with at least a 70 (no rounding..69.9 would fail you out). I think it should have been higher than a 70..JMHO.

Mods 2-5 you have to pass each class with a 75 or better, again, no rounding.

You also have to pass a Dosing Calc test with at least an 85 in mod 3. You have two chances, if you don't get that 85, out the door you go. (we do med pass in clinical for mod 3. If you don't pass the dosing calc test, you can't go to clinicals, no going to clinicals = a walk out the door)

I have heard of schools where you have to maintain a certain average at all times. Which to me really doesn't sound too fair. You have all 100's on tests, get a 73 on one test and they toss you...wow! talk about stress.

Only 73 but many students including myself are stressed about passing.

My school is 77! AHHH! And like many posters before me have cried out, there is NO rounding!!!!!!!

I have yet to experience the true meaning of this grading system because I haven't taken an exam; but that will now be short-lived because I have my very first nursing school exam this Monday!! PLEASE PRAY FOR ME, YOU GUYS! :uhoh21::uhoh3:

We have to have a 75 to pass, but they make sure you do. We are given plenty of makeup work and extra points for added assignments.

We have to pass our math test with no mistakes at all. If we fail, we study and take it again.

Our school has an almost perfect pass rate, with all passing the nclex one year, and only three not making it the next. Hmmmmmm:mad:

So, do you think it is necessary for schools to be so harsh when the students really want to dedicate themselves to nursing but some are a little slower than the norm?
