What is the passing test grade at your school?

I was recently accepted to a nursing program where I learned that the passing test grade was a 78. Needless to say I can't stop thinking about this and it has me super nervous. I spoke to a friend of mine at a local universtity and his passing grade is 80 and but another friend of mine hers is only 70 at her NRSG school. I think what worries me the most are the post that say that nrsg school is so difficult and getting a C is an accomplishment. So this has made me even more worried.

So I am just curious what are the passing grades at your school? And is a 78 excessive or is this the norm in nursing school?

I attend MVCTC in Ohio and the passing grade is 80%. Our qizzes and homework are not counted as grades only our final! Therefore, you must get a 80% or higher on the final. Its hard but I guess it will prepare me for the nclex.

its 80 at my school. i dont worry about getting an A in the class. Just worry about passing. as long as you pass, you'll still be a nurse.

At my school 78% is passing.

75 at my school

Specializes in GICU-WE GET IT ALL.

at my school we have a 7 point scale, while the rest of the university has a 10. then, our passing is an 80. Our test average has to be above an 80 or we fail. And our school doesn't round up, so if it 79.5, you still fail.. is anyone elses school like this??

Ours is 75%. Our school motto is "74 out the door".

I feel lucky, now! Ours is 73

Specializes in Operating Room.

Ours is 78, which I think is just stupid! I think it's a little easier at area schools, but I'm not sure.

We did have a rule that if you made 70 or below twice on tests, you were made to withdraw.:uhoh3: It didn't matter if you had made 100, 100, 70, 70....you were still kicked out and not allowed to take the final.

Obviously, if you pass the final, then you have studied enough after those two 70 or below grades to learn the information. So, I don't think this rule should have ever been allowed.

Our set up is this:

78-82 = C

83-89 = B

90-100=A

Ours is 77% - C means Continue next semester

77-84 = C

85-92 = B

93-100 = A

My school is 70 but I really feel it should at least be 75. We have some bad apples, personality and academically in our class that linger at a constant 70 average.. 70 is way to close to just barely passing.. I dont know about you guys but I wouldnt want a nurse who just barely passed working on ME while im vacationing in the hospital.

I live in WI. our test avg. must be a 78% b-4 anything else gets taken in to account for our final grade .
