What does your nursing uniform look like?

Published

I found out today that our nursing uniform is white scrub pants (or a white skirt), a white polo shirt and a white smock/lab coat that has to be worn at all times. YUCK!! Plus, the polo shirt is pretty thick. Can anyone say heat stroke.:o I'm gonna melt and look ugly lol.

What do you wear to your clinicals?

Our uniform consists of burgundy pants with an elastic or a tie waist, white tunic top with short sleeves, and white lab coat. The women's top is collarless with the neckline and pockets trimmed in burgundy. The men's top has a collar with the collar and pockets trimmed in burgundy. The women's lab coat has a collar, the men's lab coat is collarless, and the pockets of both are trimmed in burgundy. Our school name & logo (along with "Nursing Student" is embroidered on the right sleeves of both the lab coats and the tunics.

It's not bad. We do look really professional, so I don't mind so much. We have to wear all-white shoes...they actually made us all buy the same style too & brand. Cherokee Rockers...closed back, tennis shoe style looking things.

Navy blue scrubs with school patch. White lab coat. White shoes, No canvas. :)

ours is a navy polo with school name embroidered, khaki pants and any closed toe shoe for school, white scrub pants with white nurse's/tennis shoe for clinical site along with embroidered lab coat (which always gets too hot to wear with the running around we do) neither of the embroidered things will get worn again (maybe donated to other students when i'm done with them)... absolutely no hoodies in chilly classrooms, and only white underneath -- jewelry must be kept to a minimum and hair off the shoulders!

You have a uniform for class? Wow can't imagine that.

Malia

Our uniforms are all white. White t-shirts, scrub tops, or white polos, white scrub pants and all white shoes. We also have to wear an apron that is small blue and white gingham stripes and a white lab coat.

I have to say that the all white uniform looks really clean and professional. BUT the bottom of my pants always get dirty whe it rains etc...and that stinks. I've found to always roll up my pants if it's raining and unroll once I get inside. This eliminated that problem, but they still get a lil dirty anyway. Bummer.

Oh yea...also: hair off the collar, no jewelry, not even engagement ring (but you can wear your wedding band). What I always did w/ my wedding ring was to pin it inside my apron because I don't like leaving it at home or in the car. That was a trick my instructor showed us.

Remember the Stay Puff marshmallow Man? Yeah, that what I look like in my uniform-- well except I have 2, ahem, pilows to pad the front a little. We wear all white with school insignia and only are allowed to order from the school's place. Great!

Specializes in Cardiac, ER.

my uniform is a ceil blue top with the school patch, white pants, white shoes (no open backs), and a white lab coat.

Specializes in geriatrics.

We had the option of wearing a white snap uniform top with the school letters embroidered on it, or a white turtleneck or polo shirt again with the school logo,a dark blue vest or dark blue lab coat. The pants were not optional--had to be dark blue. Everyone had to oder from the same company through a special store. Our school nursing patch had to be on the white shirt, coat or vest. If you wore the white scrub top you didn't have to wear the blue vest or coat. You had to have your name tag on at all times. Forgetting it meant, you were sent home and you had to make up the clinical day at your own expense. The store we got the uniforms from gave all the students a great discount.

I am still thanking God we didn't have to wear hats. We had that option with a borrowed on for our graduation portraits.

Guess i was pretty lucky considering, what i have read.

My uniform is a very ugly hunter green polo, very heavy, stiff white pants, and a very heavy, long sleeve, white lab coat. Had my first clinical in this uniform today and thought I was gonna die of heat stroke...lol. They want us to look professional, but it's hard to appear too professional when you are dripping with sweat....YUK! Had to keep making trips to the restroom to dry off...lol I hate these uniforms!
