  1. Nurseguy74....You should come to the prison and work....you could make even more! Alot of our Q's came from the state hospital, so you might even know a few of them! ( Just a suggestion, I hope you don't mind). Lisa
  2. Sorry, I don't. No one seems to want to talk about how much they make. Someone told me that all lpn's make the same, regardless of experience, but I hardly think that would be fair, ya know? But, like I said, I really don't know. They are looking for more people now, so, if your interested, you should apply!!
  3. The prison is state, but medical is hired through CMS
  4. I am working at Miami Correctional, located between Peru and Kokomo
  5. I live in Indiana, just graduated in May, and am working at a correctional facility at $20.50 an hour.
  6. I am working at my first job as a new lpn, at a correctional facility, and am making $20.50 an hour. This is for afternoon shift, which I hate. Pay will go down to $18.50 when/if I ever make it to days.
  7. Practically everyone who takes it feels the same way!! When I left the building, I already knew that I bombed it big time.....but I passed!! Lots of people only get 85 questions and think they failed, but they passed. I'm sure you will find out soon enough that you passed too. Not really anything you can do now to change the way you did on it....so..RELAX!!!! Don't stress, I'm sure you did fine!!! :balloons:
  8. When I started at the community college I attend, almost 2 yrs ago, I had to start with basic algebra. It had been about 22 yrs since I had algebra in high school, so I was scared to death of it!! Even though it was tough to get back into it, I managed to finish the class with a B. I then had to go on to advanced algebra, and found it to be incredibly easy. I made straight A's all the way through. So, I think once you get back into the mode of learning math, you should be ok...just remember to ask for help if you need it!!! Good Luck! :)
  9. I felt exactly the same way last summer when I started LPN clinicals, and I am feeling the same way right now as I am getting ready to start RN clinicals. You are by no means alone! Everything always seems to have a way of working out in the end though..so hang in there!
  10. Thanks everyone for all of your positive, helpful responses!! I have my first clinical on Tuesday, so I will let you all know how that goes!! Thanks again!!:thankya:
  11. Thanks for the advice! I guess I will hang in there and see what happens! Maybe it won't be as bad as I am anticipating! Thanks again mentalhealthman!
  12. I have been in the LPN-RN bridge program for about 3 weeks now, and am seriously wondering if I made a mistake. I just graduated from the LPN program in May, took boards, got my license on May 30th, and have never worked as an LPN. I am the only person in my class of 30, who has never worked as a nurse(or CNA). I am doing great with the bookwork, but I have a feeling that I might be very intimidated when it comes to clinicals, which start next week. Has anyone ever been in this same situation and have any advice for me? I'm thinking about just dropping out, getting some experience, then trying again in a year or so. I just hate the thought of that though, since it might be harder to get in then. Any advice would be appreciated!! Thanks.....Lisa
  13. I think as far as competition, it depends on the hospital. When I did my L&D rotation last year, the hospital I was at had lots of openings. The nurses there told us that no one wanted L&D, so they had plenty of OT if they wanted it.
  14. There is a store in Wabash called Shoe City, and they have scrubs, shoes...etc. That is about the only other place I know of, around here. Hope that helped!
  15. I just graduated from a PN program and got my license!!! I am now back in school for the RN transition....so one more year!
