And did you have to treat them?
I am just curious. Your stories always seem to either crack me up or shake my head in amazement.
Thanks for sharing ?
Hehehehe....
1) Most often UTI's
2) Mother to 3yr old "You have stomach a ache!" tell the nurse. The child is saying "No I don't!" Mom "Yes you do" Kid "No not me!'' WTH??
3) People that come in for "check up's" during the busiest time of the day (ofcourse there's nothing wrong with them, it's just in case!)
4) Coming in on Friday asking for a sick note for the following week, when all you have is a headache
5) Headaches... no not a migrane headache!:lol_hitti
I got a new job and need a work physical before I start tomorrow. It's a weekend and the doctors office/corp health is not open.
Oh, and one guy had some plastic thing in his member right underneath the skin, I guess to make it more pleasureable for her. It was in the shape of a money sign. Well, new girlfriend didn't like it so he tried to cut it out himself ???? That was dumb!
oh an had a guy who came in with this jar full of spit, that he would occasionally spit in to (he wanted the doctor to take a sample), because he thought that aliens were infiltrating his mind and body by these dust particles he was inhaling. oh, but his chief complaint was SOB.
You think that can't happen? Jodi, you're a cynic, IT HAPPENS!!
I'd start buying stock in tinfoil and air filters. They'll come for the ER nurses first.

I've mentioned this already here, but I have a relative whose ex-husband had to pay the kids' medical bills after their divorce, and she would do things like this just to soak him.
:angryfire
The kids finally told her, "Mom, we don't want to go to doctors all the time" and she stopped doing this.
She's the type who would file false sexual abuse charges and then brag about it. The kicker is, the kids don't have anything to do with him and nobody will tell me why. Obviously a case of two people who had nothing in common besides being extremely dysfunctional.
We had a guy who made homemade saline solution on the stove top and injected about 50cc into his scrotum. He developed cellulitis and was sent to the OR. If he had access to a syringe and needle; why couldn't he have access to sterile saline?
What was his purpose in injecting the saline into his scrotum? What was he trying to accomplish?

It's an S&M thing.
If pain was the goal then sterile WATER would have hurt a LOT more!! LOL

Around my area, there was a lady who did this. Her kid got taken away. I don't think she changed in the past 10 years or so since. Some people can be unbelievably selfish and vindictive.

I've worked as a Nurse Tech in the ER for 2 years now (I graduate in May with my BSN, yay!) and I have seen crazy and ridiculous stuff. Some to note are...
A guy came in who cut off his member, with scissors. Said "God told him to do it." Let's just say I've never looked at a member the same. :chuckle
Another guy came in with a Dove shampoo bottle in his butt, and when him and his girlfriend couldn't get it out, they decided to try a wire coat hanger. Apparently they didn't get the memo that there are toys made specifically for that area if that is what you are into!
People come in for crazy stuff all the time. It gets exhausting after a while. It's actually sad how many people are so uneducated in how to give basic care to themselves.
