Another thread has prompted me to ask: what mantra/saying/advice has gotten you through nursing school? What do you mutter every day as you head out to all the responsibility that is waiting for you?
Here are mine:
'Never let anyone or anything get in the way of your goal.'
When you think you can't do something, you WON'T. When you think you can, you WILL.
I have the above two sayings on my fridge, so I can look at them every time I open that door.....which is a lot, sadly, LOL.
Finally:
"One more day down and on my way to my goal."
These three sentences have given me strength the whole time and have made a difference for me. What helps you?
"suck it up buttercup"
"stay calm and carry on"
"be like water and flow over the rock"
"dig you heels and just do it"
"you have to jump in, just like into that cold pool"
"play the game"---there are SO many hoops to jump
"you get out of it what you put into it"
"you don't have to be a rock star rocket scientist but you do have to show up!"---persistance matters!
........deeeeeppp breaths! and be humble
its hilarious that a couple of weeks ago i asked my boyfriend to get me finding nemo out of the blue and now i see you all quoting it. must have been something subliminal.my mantra is, my mom 4 days before she passed((she was an RN), telling the nurse in the hospital who was drawing bloods "teach my daughter everything you know because she is going to be a nurse someday..." that was 6 years ago..i just got into the program in september.
That brought tears to my eyes... make her proud!
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!"
"Tough times never last, tough people do! And I'm tough!!"
And then I just think of how proud I will make my Daddy to be the first one of his children (3 older than me) to make something of myself. I am the only one of five to even graduate highschool, much less go to college. The last quote is something my Daddy taught me... I'll never forget it.
