Anyone using Microsoft OneNote to take notes during nursing school?
I finally got it to work!!!!! Thanks CuriousMe!!!! Part of it was that I have never used OneNote and so I didn't really have a clue what I was looking at when I opened it up. I kept inserting the files, not seeing anything. I didn't realize that it was "inserting" the powerpoint as a page on the right hand side. LOL Good thing I'm not a computer tech....I'd be fired. This is going to be AWESOME to use during nursing school. I am so excited. I wish they would post stuff at our school so that I can go ahead and set up my notebooks and tabs. We are such nerds. LOL :typing

Anyone using Microsoft OneNote to take notes during nursing school?
No, Microsoft Student (including OneNote) came with my laptop when I purchased it in November. It says on the OneNote box that "Send to OneNote 2007 print driver not available on a 64 bit operating system". I hate not to be able to use the powerpoint with it, although I am using Vista. I just don't know how to fix it.

Have you tried to "print" powerpoint lectures directly to OneNote? Have you had any problems with that? Mine has the option greyed out when I try it.

Thank you guys for all the responses! I am glad to know that it is mostly positive feedback. I am excited about using it. The only hiccup I have found is that I am running Windows Vista, and there is apparently an issue with OneNote "printing" power points directly to OneNote. There is supposed to be a backdoor way around it until they fix the issue. (This isn't a problem for Windows operating systems other than Vista, I have been told.) I'm dying to set up my notebook and tabs, but I really can't do that AT LEAST until orientation. :nuke:

Documenting numbers
I'm not officially a nursing student until next month, but I was once told this by a nursing instructor.... During nursing school, you must learn to do things the way that your particular clinical instructor wants them. If she says the sky is pink, then the sky is pink. Once you graduate from nursing school, the sky can be any color you want, but while you are in nursing school, the sky is pink. I don't know why that stuck with me, but it did.

Anyone use Microsoft OneNote during nursing school to take notes on?
Thanks for your reply! I thought it kind of looked a little cumbersome also, but I also think that it is because I haven't actually tried to use it yet. I have heard good things about it. I guess I just need to sit down and actually try to do some things on it and get the feel of it. I was reading another thread where somebody had actually posted a snapshot picture of what their OneNote looked like. It was for a nursing student. It looked REALLY organized, which is right down my alley! With all of the horror stories that I've been told about how much time you DON'T have during nursing school, I'm just wondering if I'll actually have time to use it.

Anyone using Microsoft OneNote to take notes during nursing school?
I posted this thread in another forum, and then I realized that I would probably get a better response if I posted this in the "students" forum..... I will be starting nursing school in about a month, so I recently purchased a laptop that came with Microsoft OneNote. I'm curious if any of you nursing students, or former nursing students are using or have used that program. Did you find it helpful? How did you utilize it? The gentleman who sold me the laptop had just graduated college and told me that he used it religiously during school...not in nursing though. Any insight, comments, suggestions?

Any Georgia Highlands College applying for Fall 2009?
I was really hoping that we would have them by next week also. There are so many things that I have had to put off until later because it all hinges on that acceptance letter. I guess no news is still good news though....even though that doesn't satisfy me right now.:hngon:

Any Georgia Highlands College applying for Fall 2009?
Starrdan2....Lately the nursing department has been telling us that they won't be sending out the acceptance letters until the end of June. Several different students have been told a couple of different time frames....so we don't know if they are saying the end of June to stave off the phone calls until they have them all mailed or what. The wait is driving us nuts!!!:grn: Let us know if you know anything different.

Thanks Do or Do Not! That was too funny. I like it when I find out people have spouted off horse poop when it's in my favor. I agree that it is very frustrating that they will not be sending out letters until that late. That only gives the ones who actually get in about a month to prepare before Fall classes start. That's a month to make plans for other employment if needed, child care, scholarships, to get all of the money up for the books...... I really really hope that they intend to send out the letters much sooner than June. Hopefully they are just telling people that they won't be sending them out until June so that they won't receive as many phone calls from anxious students like us who are impatient and anxious. haha But then again, maybe not because if they are waiting on Spring grades to be posted that won't happen until the 2nd week of May. (Spring classes end next week.) So, if it takes them a couple of weeks after grades are posted to make the decisions, I guess it will be close to June. Ggggrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!! :hdvwl: The Dental Hygiene program at GHC is much more efficient at this acceptance process. They had their letters within about a week or so of the deadline date. I sit beside a girl in class that showed me her acceptance letter for the Dental Hygiene program this morning, and she was accepted contingent on her completing and passing the two classes she is currently taking. (I don't know why the nursing department can't do that.)

We need all the dirt we can get. haha I have talked to a couple of people who applied for the Fall at GHC but haven't taken their Regent's test yet. They are doing it during summer semester. That may actually keep some people from getting in since so many applied. And then I'm sure there are a few more who applied to more than one nursing program. So.....don't fret yet Dallas! You hang in there with me, because when we get our letters in a few weeks we're gonna celebrate!

ROFL.... Dallas, I love that little impatient icon! I bet that is exactly what I look like. A lady in my morning class told me today that she had gone to the nursing department yesterday. They told her that the reason they are waiting so long this year to send out the acceptance letters is because this is the first time in the past 10 years that they are acutally having a hard time deciding who to let in. Apparently because of the economy there were a lot more that applied than usual, and of the ones who did apply, there were so many more than usual with good grades. There weren't as many people applying this time that had taken the Biologies over again because of low grades the first time. Soooooo......just when I had convinced myself that I had nothing to worry about......she RAINED on my party. It's a good thing that I don't like alcohol....because at this point I would probably be an alcoholic. The stress of the suspense is absolutely driving me insane. Surely they will not make us wait until June to get the letters.....surely they would not do that to us.
