Another thread has prompted me to ask: what mantra/saying/advice has gotten you through nursing school? What do you mutter every day as you head out to all the responsibility that is waiting for you?
Here are mine:
'Never let anyone or anything get in the way of your goal.'
When you think you can't do something, you WON'T. When you think you can, you WILL.
I have the above two sayings on my fridge, so I can look at them every time I open that door.....which is a lot, sadly, LOL.
Finally:
"One more day down and on my way to my goal."
These three sentences have given me strength the whole time and have made a difference for me. What helps you?
its hilarious that a couple of weeks ago i asked my boyfriend to get me finding nemo out of the blue and now i see you all quoting it. must have been something subliminal.
my mantra is, my mom 4 days before she passed((she was an RN), telling the nurse in the hospital who was drawing bloods "teach my daughter everything you know because she is going to be a nurse someday..." that was 6 years ago..i just got into the program in september.
I am not in "nursing school" yet but I have completed everything except the actual nursing classes like OB. When I'm studying I say to myself, "How is this going to help my patients".
When I'm sitting in class I like to answer the teacher's questions and have an "involved" sort of attitude.
When I have to go to my dead-end job to put up with the meanest people you could ever imagine while waiting to get into nursing school, "One more day closer" or "Someday I will never look back" or "I can't wait to give notice and dance on my boss' desk while kicking papers in the air"! (I can dream)!
Above all, "I am doing this to give my Caleb a better life than I had". I could never fail my son!
