What does your login nickname mean to you?

Published

I've seen so many different login names and have often wondered why people have come up with some of the crazy nicknames they have. Is it just something to put down; or, is it something that means a lot to them or describes them to a "t"?

Ok, I'll go first. The month I was born, my parents had a cat who had a litter of Maine coon cats. They kept one kitten and decided to call him TC. Why, you ask? Because those two letters could represent a vast variety of nicknames based on the type of day or attitude this kitty would have.

At times, my parents would call him Terrific Cat, Tremendous Cat, Tricky Cat, Time-consuming Cat. Others were not so endearing such as; Terrible Cat, Tyrannical Cat, Taunting Cat...etc. You get my drift.

Anyway, you wonder where I get my nickname based on this info?

You see, when I decided to go into nursing, my husband smiled and raised his eyebrows and said, "Hmmm...Naughty Nurse Nikki, eh?" I quickly shot him a look and said, "Why not Nice Nurse Nikki?" What ensued over the course of years in nursing school was much like what my cat TC had experienced. I've been referred to as Naughty Nurse Nikki, Nice Nurse Nikki, Nasty Nurse Nikki, Nimble Nurse Nikki, Notorious Nurse Nikki, Noble Nurse Nikki, Needy Nurse Nikki, Neurotic Nurse Nikki, Newbie Nurse Nikki, and now that I work Nights...I am Noc Nurse Nikki.

So take the nickname you choose, and run with it! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

NNNikki

p.s. "...but ya doesn't have to call me johnson!";)

Love your story, NNNikki!

Since I'm pretty new to this site, I guess this will not only serve as a name description, but also as an introduction. ;)

OLDCARTS, as most of you probably already know, is an acronym commonly used for nursing assessments.

O for Onset

L for Location

D for Duration

C for Characteristics

A for Associated symptoms (or aggravating factors)

R for Relieving factors

T for Timing (or treatment)

S for Severity (or scale)

Ohhh, BTW, I'm a nursing student (senior)... not yet in my "First Year in Nursing", but I couldn't help crashing! :imbar ;)

There are many threads here about our screen names. Here is one:

Probably time for a new one though.

I'm "stevielynn" because that is the nickname my grandma used for me.

Specializes in Operating Room.

Hmmm, my SN. Well my junior year in high school I was one of 8 students selected from my high school to be in a 3 week foreign exchange trip to the azores (islands belonging to portugal). It's important to know that I am a goof and love to have fun, and my host student was the same way. Well, when I spoke he told me I spoke with a spanish accent so he started calling me Ramon as a joke. I told him he sounded Russian and started calling him Valdmiro... it wasn't long before his whole class was calling us these names. Well, the girls there thought it was too funny and also seemed to find me extremely interesting (maybe the foreigner aspect??) well, his friends on the side started calling me malino which was island slang for "guy who gets all the girls" hence, ramonmalino

great question, nnnikki!! i'm new to this site even though i became a user in 06. who had time to "use" while they were in school?lol. my name is tammy and my sweet, love of my life little dog is daisy. she "owns" me, not the other way around, hahaha! hence my name.

Specializes in ICU, CVICU.

When I was a freshmen, I lived on campus and couldn't have any animals but there were a couple of really cute cats that lived under the biology building. My boyfriend (now husband) used to joke that they probably escaped from the labs and were on the run and so my name was....labcat ('01 was the year I graduated).

i'm breathtaking

My name is Angelina. When I was a kid, there was one of my friends, couple years younger then me. He couldn't pronounce Angelina so he called me just that "Glina".

Mine is from a biblical story:

"Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him." 1 Sam 16:23

It loosely implies my two career paths: nursing and music, and reminds me that in a way I'm not doing either properly if I'm thinking of them as divorced or unrelated opposites, which is easy to do.

....not that you'll find me jitterbugging down the hall with an insulin syringe or anything, just saying...:trout:
