Hey guys, I'm so glad that we all on this site trying to become nurses and giving each other advice in school and in the real world of nursing. I wanted to know what kind of Nurses do you guys want to become? Like what kind of specialty & if you're not sure, thats fine too :) i love hearing about the type of nurses people want to be!

Specializes in Labor and Delivery. Has 1 years experience.

Well, without any clinical experience yet I think labor and delivery is where I want to be. But I'm open to many positions and figure I'll have a much better grasp once I do clinicals :)

TransportJockey, EMT-P

Specializes in Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, C-NPT, FP-C. Has 10 years experience.

Im aiming for ER/ICU and eventually switching seats and working as a flight nurse. I just know i don't want to work med/surg

I want to be a neonatal nurse in the NICU.

My new grad offer is in shock trauma ICU, though.

I plan to be a travel nurse in either specialty.

After traveling I will be a neonatal nurse practitioner, or my nurse friend and I are going to become FNP's and open our own dermatology practice!

Like AspiringNurseMW, I would like to someday work in L&D. I want to eventually become a CNM, unfortunately it may take a long time because my location is not very CNM-friendly.

Specializes in Psych.

As of now I think trauma because I work well in intense situations.

My goal is to be an employed RN :) I would love to go back and get my masters someday too... But I haven't even made it through nursing school yet. So we'll see if that works out ;)

TooManyCats, ASN, BSN

Specializes in Critical Care. Has 4 years experience.

Critical care. Maybe anesthesiology or neonatology if I can afford a masters program one day.

I want to be a NICU RN and eventually becoming an NNP. ☺️

verene, MSN

Specializes in mental health / psychiatic nursing.

I'm hoping to go into psych. I'm open to other areas too though.

OR, Pacu, or Pre-op. But I'd take any job that comes along because my state is saturated with new grads. I'm open to other specialties too, and will know better when I start clinical rotations.

L&D, but I'm open to anything at this point :)

OR nursing for me :) I was an anesthesia tech for many years...can't wait to (hopefully) get back into surgery!

Specializes in Cardiac PCU/Med-Telemetry. Has 4 years experience.

I want tobe cardio telemetry nurse or ICU nurse. Labor and delivery nurse would be interesting too.

Psych nursing interests me a lot. I only just start nursing school in the fall, so I am sure I will be learning a lot more about all the areas.

Specializes in Eventually Midwifery. Has 1+ years experience.

I want to be a Midwife, so I will probably look for a position in L&D, but I also like wound care.

Specializes in OR, CVICU/CTICU.

I got my first taste of trauma at my current ER, and now I can't get enough of it! Trauma Resuscitation Nurse!
