Hey guys, I'm so glad that we all on this site trying to become nurses and giving each other advice in school and in the real world of nursing. I wanted to know what kind of Nurses do you guys want to become? Like what kind of specialty & if you're not sure, thats fine too :) i love hearing about the type of nurses people want to be!
I am currently doing my rotation on a post surgery unit and I love it!! I love seeing the progress in the patients. And since most are there for joint replacements, they are not at their worst and are pretty nice. The ones that are on the really sick units, not quite icu, but not a regular medsurg, are not happy because they are very sick. I like being able to see progress on these patients. But since i am only in my second semester I have lots more clinical to do so I may find something else I like.
Cardiac, telemetry, ICU, forensics. Maybe OR? I'm not too picky, as long as it isn't psych (which I say now as a nursing student, but that's probably what I'll end up doing lol) When I get to be an experienced, "older" nurse, maybe I'll switch to L&D or school nursing for a change of pace. Maybe I'll become a nurse practitioner! Who knows?
When I graduate, I'll be happy to have an RN job :)
For right now and as a recently accepted CNL student, the only type of nurse I would like to be is an employed one! I'm praying that I find a position within the OR or the ICU because eventually I would like to be a CRNA someday. But honestly I wanna try and keep an open mind during clinical rotations because I may end up hating the OR!
I want to be a Hospice RN. Beyond that I would like to continue my education and get my masters. I am not sure if I will want to be a nurse practitioner... but I do know I like to better myself so I can't imagine I would want to stop learning. Truly time will only tell me where I go with this. But I know what brought me to my decision to go for this is my experience with Hospice.
