Scrubs: Are Colorful Ones Unprofessional?
I'd say it depends on where you work, IMO. I personally love the classic, royal blue scrubs...I don't know why but that color just seems the most serious and professional to me in healthcare. Obviously in a peds setting or maybe LTC, it would be more appropriate to wear more fun designs and colors. That's just me though! :)

I hate clinicals - Anyone else with me?
I just finished my clinicals this semester (in the LPN program). You are right, it's very tiring and while it's alright, I'm starting to think more and more that I'd rather work In a clinic setting. I've been planning to go from LPN to RN, but now I'm thinking I'd rather stay an LPN when I graduate.

Failed a syllabus quiz already??
This is my second day of nursing school, and I did a 5-point syllabus quiz. It's obviously not that much but I ended up getting two out of five wrong, and I feel like a total idiot I couldn't even pass a simple syllabus quiz. I read the syllabus very thoroughly like twice and there was this trick question I couldn't even find in the syllabus. I feel really bad about this and my teachers stressed about how a point or two matters a lot and my grade is already off to bad start. I'm just wondering if I'm making this to be a bigger deal than it should be or what. Now I'm more worried about not making it especially when I can't even do a simple manual blood pressure...I couldn't hear a thing, and yes my stethescope was on right.

Should I buy a nice stethoscope?
I had bought an Adscope stethoscope for cheap and I can barely hear anything out of it. I'm going to return it and buying a lightweight Littman instead...just wondering how well the lightweight one is compared to the classic scope for nursing school?

Tb test and vaccines
I asked my advisor if I could get the blood test and she says they won't accept it and that it needs to be PPD.
-
Tb test and vaccines
My school only requires PPD unfortunately...no blood test for me.
-
Tb test and vaccines
Well I went in and asked about it and she said she was not aware of the MMR interfering with the TB test.... So she gave it to me anyway. I hope the school doesn't put up a fit.

Tb test and vaccines
@ farawyn - I read in a few places mono can interfere with test results. @ blondenurse12 - does it matter in what order you would get them on the same day?
-
Tb test and vaccines
I'll find out what they have to say tomorrow....I also had mono about a month ago as well, I've heard this can be an issue as well.

Tb test and vaccines
I have no local health department that hands out cheap vaccines

Tb test and vaccines
I am just the type of person who likes things getting done early and I get ancy if it's a tight squeeze. Anyway I think the two step mantoux is required. Am I getting this right, you have to wait a week after the second test is read to get the MMR? Can't I just get it right away?

Tb test and vaccines
I did more research and I'm finding the same information. I'll still go in and ask, fingers crossed its not a major issue.

Tb test and vaccines
I just got accepted into nursing school and I need to get my MMR shots and Tdap as well as a two- step mantoux done before December 23rd. I scheduled to have my mantoux done tomorrow morning but I went into my local pharmacy and had my first MMR shot today. I just read somewhere you have to wait to get tested 28 days after you had the MMR shot :/ I had no idea about this... Anyway my question is, am I absolutely required to wait 28 days? Im just really struggling to get everything done in time...

Question about weekend schedules
At the nursing home that I used to work at, it was every other Saturday and Sunday. I was a CNA, but the nurses had the same weekend schedules as the CNAs.
