I'm starting my first GN job in August and my commute is around an hour with traffic. I have a beater car now that clunks, squeals, clicks, and randomly dies but gets upwards of 33 mpg. I'm looking to buy a new car once I get some cash in my pocket. What do you all drive/recommend for that LONG commute?
TIA

My mom has a little under an hour drive to work and she has a toyota yaris. She actually has the 2-door, and it is still very roomy, I can only imagine the 4-door sedan (I think they also have a 5-door hatchback) is just as roomy. It is great on gas and it isn't too bad of a price if you're buying brand new.

I drive about 1.5 hours each way (ugh) and I use a ford focus for commuting. I bought it specifically for that reason - gets good has milage. It's a 5 speed with no frills so I picked it up pretty cheap brand new. It's very reliable. I bought it when I started nursing school beginning of 05' and no problems yet!

Honda Civic..gets 40mpg highway!
I'm thinking a Civic...reliable...great gas mileage. When I get the money a Prius would be ultimate.

I drive my old (1995) Ford Taurus. I don't care if I beat the heck out of it driving it all those miles every week.

Toyota Prius is the best as far as MPG. I drive from north Texas 15 min from OK to central Texas (3hrs) and my gas hand moves one notch (10 notches in all). I spend average $40 to fill up.

Honda Civic! It's an 06 and has 150K miles. The only thing I've done to it is new tires X3, brakes, battery, and regular oil changes. I get between 28 and 35 mpg.
