What kind of car do you drive for those 1+ hour commutes?

I'm starting my first GN job in August and my commute is around an hour with traffic. I have a beater car now that clunks, squeals, clicks, and randomly dies but gets upwards of 33 mpg. I'm looking to buy a new car once I get some cash in my pocket. What do you all drive/recommend for that LONG commute?

TIA

i did home health for 3 years, and I LOVE MY MINI COOPER. 33-35 mpg.

I drive a 2003 Yukon Denali xlt and also have an 03 Trailblazer. Both stink on Gas but the denali is a little worse. Now I just got a job that is about a 45 minute commute each way, will definitely look into picking up a Honda civic or something for the commute. We spend hundreds a week in gas between the husband and his commute and work van that is bad on gas and my car.

Speaking of cars doing good. I have to admit, my first car was a 92 or 93 Chevy cavalier. That sucker was awesome. I had to replace brakes and oil but never had problems with that car and used it for years and ran it into the ground. Was a trooper and a heckuva of a car for me. My husband even drove it through a thing of water (sign said water over roadway and him and his friend though it would be fine, flooded it and stalled it out) but after it dried out it still worked great without problems. I hated the color but that it was great. Got well over 175 thousand miles on it.

I used to drive an older Honda Civic - that thing was great on gas. It averaged 35mpg, sometimes I would get 40...it just depends. The newer Civics still get about the same.

Now I drive a VW GTI...gets about 35mpg highway.

WHHOOO HOOOO!!! LOVE VW's

I have seen many comments positive for the Honda's , Toy's too!!!

(sigh) I will have to manage on my little 1997 "Stewart Little Car" till I get out of school or it just stops. :redpinkhe:lol2::lol2:
