Ours gave everyone a $10 gift certificate yesterday....for the local grocery store. And they are having a big Christmas party with band, buffet , champagne , in two weeks.
I don't know what the Christmas gift will be.
This is my 3rd year at this hospital and this was the first year they gave you anything besides time and a half if you worked the holiday. They passed out $25 gift certificates for Jewel for a turkey or meat product purchase (the certificate specifies this is what it can be used for only). I was happily suprized and thankful. The rumor is employee satisfaction is at an all time low for our company over all. I'm wondering what little "extra" we'll get at christmas besides time and a half if you work it, if anything at all. My departments Christmas party is at my bosses house. Guess it's decent of her to think we're acceptable enough to invite into her home:rolleyes: I'm not going because I'm only a tech right now and some of the higher ups can be snobby. None of the techs ever go. But they are asking each of us to give $10 for each manager in our department (their is 3 total) so they can get them each a gift. Last years gift was a $300 Ladro statute of a nurse to the boss!
What a crock. Most of the techs this year are saying no way because the boss will barely give us the time of day and rushes us thru our yearly reviews this year saying she's really busy and has to move on. :angryfire
Well, I worked 3-11 last night (Thanksgiving) and one of our LPN's ended up leaving right after she got report because she got sick (stomach "bug"), so we three RN's had to absorb her patients. I didn't get off the floor for dinner so I don't even know if there was a free meal or not. Fortunately, one of the patient's wives brought in homemade pies which she offered pieces of to us, and I sadly had to subsist on pie... :D
It was great!
We're having a Christmas party for our unit at a local restaurant, but it'll cost around $30 each. I don't really mind because it's good to get out and socialize with all shifts and to see how nice everyone looks "cleaned up". I don't know where all your facilities that give out gift certificates and other goodies at holidays get their money. Our hospital's always crying poor. My best gift ever would be lowered nurse-to-patient ratios.
I posted here earlier.work in a county jail on 3-11 on thanksgiving.shorted us 1 nurse and minimal staffing for deputies and of course no administration x 4 days."of course we are off. it's a holiday weekend"Then they decide to do a sting for DUI/Prostitution.Usually we would have extra staffing for that(3 nurses+ 1 extra)without a holiday. We did this with 2.Provided dinner for day shift at no cost by the county;3-11 paid and provided our own.I'll never understand this place!I was just happy to get time and a half and dinner at 10:30pm.
