Published

Ours gave everyone a $10 gift certificate yesterday....for the local grocery store. And they are having a big Christmas party with band, buffet , champagne , in two weeks.

I don't know what the Christmas gift will be.

All I know is that there is a GIGANTIC TURKEY in the Oval Office right now, and I aint talikng about the one that was pardoned!!!:(

Yeah, let's stuff him and roast him!!:D Only problem is, he probably wouldn't make a good dinner unless it cost $2,000 per plate and the only people allowed at the dinner were rich Republican donors............

Okay, okay.........MEOW! ^..^ I'll take my milk in a saucer, thanks!

I get double time for working Turkey Day and I get a free lunch.

Oh yeh, they just took 5 paid time off days from us and they have changed the health care package 3 times in the last year. We started out paying about $12/month for family package on health, dental, and eye and now its gonna cost us over $300/month for an adult and one kid for the same.

My saga:

Jumping off another sinking ship

I am, I am,..

Jumping before they start charging me to work for them.

Been there, done that before in my past..St Francis Medical center died a year ago And I am still checking my mail often for my piece of the cash..

When major changes take many things from the staff,

you know this darn place is gonna crash.

They play the same games and lie till the end,

and the worse it gets the less they bend..

Staffing is cut and everyone cries,

the patients complain and soon....because of these insurance and cost changes, someone dies..

Whos fault is it

they all are trying to find, Edgar Snyder with papers in his hand..

The charting is exact and all things are in line,

in the end it is said that the death was unkind.

Many people who were once proud to work here are now nodding their heads and looking down when others talk,

Of the things that the press reveals about us.

This is the slow death of a very nice place that started out as an orphanage.

The warning bell still stands at this alzheimers home, it once warned of missing children.

The community would respond and find the lost child and assist to return that lost person to the place they belong.

This place hasn't closed yet but it looks to me like its heading that way,

It would be nice if the employees had more information and some say.

What will happen to the patients

does anyone who has a say in these matters really care?

We took the last patient from the last dying entity I worked at

now this place is seems to be the next.

Now I question, Am I bad luck or do I just choose employers like I choose my men?

I don't work as a nurse yet, but my question is, how does a hospital afford to give gifts to ALL their staff? That has to be pricey!

Zero for thanksgiving--- except my boss made rounds today and personally thanked each staff by name for their hard work--and he's hiring one more staff for my Dept!

Christmas gift is a luncheon--just finished planning today with Mgmt staf:

Roast beef sandwiches, Chicken or Stuffed Shells, Salad, Fruit Cup

Green Beans Almadine and Scalloped Potatoes, Cookies and beverages---for 125 persons costing us $~1,100.00.

Last year was poinsettas that Clinical Managers paid for; Corporate is footing bill for gift this year: Libby 22oz holiday glass jar I picked up at Walmart for $1.50 which we'll fill with candy or potpourri--we'll make up 200 gifts as many staff out visiting patients and won't stop in at party. Total expenditure should be about $2,000---CFO is my boss and I easily twisted his arm to cough up monies. :kiss (He told me I'm not allowed to leave company):roll

Also raffeling some poinsetta's off. So come visit me on Dec 17th in the afternoon!!!

stldmbfan- Most employers are "for profit", but thats a good excuse, it's too pricey :stone

Double time if you work and a turkey dinner. But don't ask for both peas and yams, you can only have one( or at least that is how it was last year)

We get a 12-14 pound turkey every year, which isn't too bad. :)

LOL, yeah I would say that's pretty good.

An 8 hour shift.lol.

For the Holidays we get a $20 gift certificate to the hospital gift shop. It's better than nothing and the gift shop does a nice job getting nice things for us to buy. And since the gift shop is run by the auxillary at least the money goes back to the hospital in some form and not to big corporate business (which I do love most of the time...lol). We do get a free meal if you work thanksgiving (I don't), but I guess everyone is pot-luck-ing so they will be cooking for nothing.
