What happens to your license if the school you previously attended shuts down?

Published

I made the ignorant decision to go to a for profit school to obtain my Lpn license in light of the recent ITT tech closing this has me thinking..what happens to my license if the school I graduated from closes it's doors? Does that mean I have to forfeit my license? Or will I be able to maintain my license and still practice? I have searched through this site and not found any definite answers. Someone please help 😀

I guess that makes the most sense.

You have a valid license- they don't take it away because your school closed.

Okay thank you. I had even asked one of my previous teachers and she said yes the bon could take your license away, I thought that sounded strange.

Your teacher is an idiot.

Hmm and to think I thought she was the most knowledgeable one of them all.

In Canada, when the RN schools shut down, they sent their records to the Board to keep the information available. Check with your Board.

The school I went is closing, but they lost their nursing program about 5 years ago. Thankfully I had already graduated long before. I still have my license.

Jocelyn Are you already licensed?
