What, no room service? Even though you don't have supplies I bet you still have pain meds though.

Don't forget the room service , fresh flowers and the fancy toiletries. None of this hoopla even works! The last floor job I had, they spent big$$$ renovating to beautiful rooms. Closed down a year later.

Specializes in ICU, LTACH, Internal Medicine.

Only one thing, it is not exactly new. I was just in such fancy/schmancy place on East Coast in 2003. Panoramic window with ocean views, soft corner with TV for family, offering "something for something" all the time. And then they brought me chocolate lava cookie "as our gift to you" - despite huge note on the door stating "critically severe food allergy - no outside food before checking with nurse".

The tube - of the wrong size, as it was found later - had to go straight back down with me being almost fully awake. Pressure apparently hit the bottom, they were just out of etomidate and with "very limited" supplies of pretty much everything else needed for RSI.

P.S. I'd heard that "pretty soon" the d***ed question about "pain meds always being given as soon as you wanted them" will be eliminated from surveys. Apparently, statisticians from Kaiser Permanente proved beyond reasonable means that "high level of satisfaction with pain management" is linked pretty tightly with in-hospital and late mortality. It would be really great if that would happen. But I am almost afraid to believe in such a miracle.

This!!! Ha!!!

Specializes in Surgical, quality,management.

Lets look at the flip side

3 bed rooms, so blooming small I can only swing a kitten not a cat 90cm between beds, no natural light on one side of the ward, no overhead hoist, wonky procedure lights that engineering won't fix because they are too old, nurse call that has to be turned off at the desk as the beside panels are damaged.

Some of the best grad program feedback in the hospital, waiting list for staff wanting to join the team, awards for an innovative IV trolley that has been rolled out org wide, properly stocked special procedure trolley, store room management with anything within reason the nurses request, all the equipment they want IV poles, foot pumps, foot stools, pressure cushions, hoists, weigh chairs, Sara Steady.
