I just found out that Cinnabon is giving nurses a free cinnabon for nurses week. Just what my plump and juicy butt needs...
In clinical today, they had sandwiches for the nurses....that Cinnabon sounded pretty good.....
Hmmm...
I was given a pen, hand sanitizer, lotion, a small candle, and a thank you.
Also, we worked short too! But that is an everyday gift at our facility.
Tuesday I had clinical at one of the local hospitals, and they invited us and the rest of my group to join thier celebration. They had a free lunch buffet, punch, cake, and new organizers for all of us. I thought that was very kind of them.
Hmm lets see
Sunday: pizza for baylor shift and night nurses
Monday: Ice cream party maybe for day and night nurses
Tuesday and Wed: something but I can't remember b/c i wasn't there
Thursday: We had a huge pot luck dinner on the floor. Management bought zaxby's chicken fingers and a big cake. Then everyone brought a cover dish.
Friday: they had an award ceremony to nominate a nurse that was voted the best that year or something.. refreshments
Doctors also all brought cakes, cookies, candy ect..
My DON gave us all little red tote bags and a nice big umbrella... both with hospital logos of course. Oh and I got a cup with candy in it.

It is wonderful to be affiliated with a hospital that goes all out for its nurses and employees.:redbeathe:redbeathe
sure, the patient's & familie's appreciation is what makes this job worthwhile, also co-workers thanks when you do something to help them out, & the help coworkers give you when you need help. but the 3.00 gift certificate to our cafeteria we all recieved i would have rather done without....to me it is just insulting.....like leaving a three penny tip for a waitress. give me nothing, or just a humorous card, rather than something so tiny & cheap, it justs makes me feel unvalued. i have half a mind to send it back to the administration & tell them they should put it in the next fund they're asking us to contribute to. i just might really do that, the more i think about it, the better i like the idea. maybe that's what i'll do...when is administators day? maybe i'll ask around & try to get a group of us together to make more of an impact.
I got a Dunkin Donuts gift card in the mail along with a lovely thank you note from the RN owner of the agency I work for occasionally.
My full time position the boss wrote Happy Nurse's Week on the white board. He also bought Dilly bars and stuck them in the fridge. However, today he passed out $5.00 gas cards to all the nurses.

At the hospital I work at they've come up with the brilliant idea to not acknowledge Nurse's Day/Week anything at all. They will be acknowledging Hospital Week...they'll have a barbeque, ice cream and some other really forgettable activity for the ENTIRE staff...no mention, not one word of Nurse's Day. It really sends a message loud and clear to the Nurses where we fall on the pecking order.
