  1. I'm in Wisconsin and have Never heard to term johnnie for a gown here they are house gowns. a johnnie is a company that supplies portable outhouses to events they are 'jimmy's johnnys'. And we call the quilted pads soakers, they soak up urine. And soda around here is pop. Funny how we all have different names for the same things.
  2. The school I went to, which is the same at all tech schools in wi, the 1st year of the RN program is the LPN program. So in order to get to the 2nd year of the RN program you must complete the LPN program. When you complete the 1st year you are able to take the PN nclex. I personally think to 1st year (the LPN program) was more difficult and stressful you don't know what to expect and what the instructor expect from you.
  3. Ray, Roy and Robert are our most popular 7 of the all on the same unit, 2 in the same room, all in rooms 8-16 in a facility of 47 people. Much easier to call them by their last names (mr smith, mr jones etc) too many R's it can get confusing!
  4. I agree with you whole heartedly!!! I really don't like summer, give me winter anyday. But, I can deal with my weather here today 71 degrees no humidity with a light breeze. If this is how summer always was I wouldn't mind it.:onbch: At 115 degrees there is no way I'd step foot out the door, anything over 80 with any hint of humidity and i'm miserable and crabby (so my family is miserable too)
  5. Last semester I did my ethics paper on organ transplant. It is an issue that is very easy to find materal on. (I got an A with out to much effort)
  6. When I was a kid grandma always told us to eat our carrots so we'd have red hair. I never did like carrots and am the only granddaughter without red hair. She also said the carrots would give us good vision so we wouldn't need glasses. (I got glasses when I was 10.) Mom would have us put mud on a bee sting, it actually was really soothing. My sister-in-law puts vicks on my nephews feet at bed time to calm his cough, swears it helps.
  7. I work in LTC one of my duties is to round with the Dr when she visits monthly to see her pts. Many of the pts she has had to see had issues with their coccyx or periarea and we needed to remove the brief. On more then one occasion the pt has had a BM, I have seen this DR put on gloves get wipes and clean up the BM so she could see their skin. She also has helped me change their draw sheet and brief. She is one hell of a Dr. her pts love her! So I guess there are those Dr's out there who will do nursing duties, even CNA duties.
  8. I really don't mean to argue but if you check the program catalog on the CVTC website you'll see that the LPN program is now only offered at the Eau Claire campus. In order to get your LPN in River Falls you have to apply to the RN program and begin that, you then have the option to stop after the 1 year if you want your LPN. But you still must have all of the pre-req's for the RN program. I originally applied for the LPN program 4 years ago and recieved a phone call telling me that I was being move to the RN wait list since they were doing away with the LPN program at that campus, siteing a saturation of LPN's in the area.
  9. I did the RN program in River Falls, WI there is no LPN program there anymore. You can however start the RN program and take the LPN NCLEX after the 1st year

  11. madmominavan: wow, guess the name says it all
  12. we got a doughnut and coffee reception with our residents, a facility t-shirt and a hand written thank-you note from the administrator. Certainly didn't brake the bank (I work in a small LTC facility) but it was nice
  13. the 'fact' that the op is stating is "one quarter of all drivers on the road at any one time in wi are drunk" is what got my goat. i just heard the report on the news a little while ago and the study stated that 25% of those polled replied that they had driven drunk at one time in their lives not that at any given time 25% of drivers in wi are drunk. i just think we need to have the facts straight. i completely buy that 25% of people in wi have driven drunk at one time in their lives and i'll bet that it is probably that high in most states most people just don't admit it. i admit i drove when i shouldn't have in my early 20's, didn't most people in their late teens early 20's in the '80's. (i now in my late 30's maybe have 1 drink every 6 months and certainly don't drive!)
  14. Sorry, I live in Wisconsin and find that information not only disturbing but completely false! 25% on wisconsin drivers intoxicated? sorry I don't think so. Even at bar closing that seems quite excessive to me. This basically is calling wisconsinites a state full of drunks, I am really offended by this.:angryfire Most people I know rarely drink. Where did you find this study? I have heard many things about people in other states too but I realize most of it is just stereotyping! I'd like to see this "study"!
  15. About 10 blocks to work for me, It take just a couple of minutes to get there! I love it! I'm home before my coworkers are even out of town! I Live about 40 minutes from the Twin Cities and could make $5 an hour more but at this time in my life and with the gas prices it isn't worth it to me to drive that distance. I would never even consider :no:driving 100 miles to a job, not for any amount of money, but that's just me.
