I just found out that Cinnabon is giving nurses a free cinnabon for nurses week. Just what my plump and juicy butt needs...
In clinical today, they had sandwiches for the nurses....that Cinnabon sounded pretty good.....
I worked Tues, Wed, Thurs of nurses week. The hospital here had a massage therapist giving messages, a reiki therapist and a reflexologist giving foot treatments. For lunch on Monday it was a sit down service and we were waited on by physicians and administration, on Tuesday we had a breakfast buffet to die for. This is my 3rd month here I think I'll stay!!:nuke:
Great thing reading what others are saying or get. Gives one many ideas. Have you approached any of the drug and uniform companies in your area to sponsor or fund any of your events? Astra Zeneca, The Lanits drug company which is here in my area, It takes a letter on letterhead paper and an e-mail to the corporate head at any of the companies; give a time frame you need a reply. We have asked for soup to nuts and have lucked out most of the time, even food from local venues... not just pizza. Bagels and the breakfast fare, lunch from Chinese to Italian and the evening and nights shifts were treated to foods and treats as well. Local merchants gave us all kinds of things. Some useful and other things that either not needed or of no use. I have a treasure box for my kids and thier freinds. There are things I send to a local elementary scholl I once worked to fill the principals treasure box which the kids get to chose from when they have a birthday or a hard day and need attention, lose a tooth, etc. Good luck with next year and taking the time to organize the event. Good on ya!
We had a little conference room that they had food items at breakfast and lunch -- actually decent stuff, like for breakfast, bagels, cream cheese, tons of fresh cut up fruit, coffee, juice, etc, and for lunch, sandwiches, salads, etc. Personally would have preferred that Outback gift certificate, but it was ok. Then, for a gift, we got a FLASK! It actually has the appearance of a small coffee thermos, but on the box specifically said "FLASK" and had the hospital logo printed on the side (aluminum with black print). Crack me up! Of course, it is far too small to hold enough coffee for me, and although I occasionally drink, I PROBABLY won't be using it for other liquids... hehehe!
I got a pen-sized hand sanitizer spray from my agency. Whoopee!

I was chairperson for our nurses week celebration.
Had very small budget for 1250 nurses but we made up baskets, stationery, bath stuff, gardening, cooking, men's etc, as gifts.
Also had a very nice reception with our Nurse CEO reading the Nightengale Pledge and I had our mayor read a proclaimation making it Nurses Day in our town.
We had the reception on Flo's BD so we had a birthday party theme with
different pictures of Flo setting around.
Also did a word search and crossword with Flo trivia and awarded prizes for the winners.
Our CEO gave a day off with pay as a prize.
Our gift was a lunch tote with a small bottle of hand sanitizer from one of our reps.
I love reading these posts as I will once again be chair of the committee and am getting some great ideas.
Wish our budget would stretch for a pair of shox, lol.
Can't see that happening with 1300 nurses, including RN,LPN,CNA,PCA and Unit clerks.
Our administration was supportive and we had posters all over the hospital.
Now if we can just get our money tree planted we will be set for next year.
