What you get for nurses week

Published

I just found out that Cinnabon is giving nurses a free cinnabon for nurses week. Just what my plump and juicy butt needs... :yeah:

In clinical today, they had sandwiches for the nurses....that Cinnabon sounded pretty good.....

I am a staff RN on my floor 7p-7:30a, the hosp, didn't recog. Nursing Assistant week in April and didn't include the CNA's, in Nurses Week.

So I actually bought, with my own money, the 2 CNA's that work 11p-7a on my floor a Breast Cancer Awareness Tote bags, a pair of breast cancer awareness socks (As an RN I LOVE when people give me socks, so I figured I would get the 2 night CNA's socks b/c it's something they can always use!!) and a they both got a bracelet that had a dream, believe, achieve inscrription on them, and gave them both a card telling them how much I appreciate everything they do for me. Nothing had the hosp. LOGO on it b/c I actually took the time to look for their gifts.

They both told me that, I am the ONLY one, (not even the hosp.) in the last 15 or so years that has ever given them anything. Adn I am the ONLY one that has told them that I appreciate everything they do.

So I thought if the hosp. or even the floor director didn't recognize them I would.

They told me I was their favorite RN before I gave them their presents, one even cried, when I handed her her present

The 7a-3p CNA's and the 3p-11p CNA's always leave a ton of work for the 11P-7A CNA's to do, and I see this on a nightly basis, and my 11p-7a CNA's have stayed over to help me with pt's and I can't say the same for the other shift CNA's

These 11p-7a ladies work their tails off, and I thought a little morale boost was what they needed!

Working for a year is pretty standard. I was also lucky to get a sign on bonus and not to work evenings or nights although I did rotate by choice. I wanted to know what the other shifts were doing and the patient outcomes since I was the team leader on our unit before I became the Case Manager. Good luck with your studies and work!

Our hospital had a barbeque for day/afternoon shift. Overnight shift got pizza and a dessert buffet. There were raffles and prizes. Not bad.

Lots of little stuff: insulated travel coffee mug, pocket organizer w/ pen, sissors, penlight, breast cancer pin and note pad; tiny pair of scissors that goes on my badge; candy; chocolate and a big nurses week breakfast...we also had some unit games w/ prizes like t-shirts, stethesope covers, etc.

Guess my hospital likes us this year.

Nothing!:(

We got a beach mat that nobody liked. We are all upset because on Doctor's Day they each got a DVD player and a 5 star meal. :uhoh3:

A very nice basket of fruit/crackers/cookies from the orthopedic service; a cake (to be split between the 12 or so nurses on duty in PACU today, and whatever number were on duty in the afternoon in Post-Recovery Room) - from the Anesthetic service. And a whistle on a lanyard from our Union...

nothing from the Plastic Surgery,Neurosurgery,or General Surgery services....it was underwhelming to say the least...

HA! My hospital combined nurses week w/ hospital week. Had an outdoor luncheon under a tent and gave all employees an polo shirt w/ the hospital name embroidered on it... yawn.... Oh, I forgot about the free meal in the crapeteria & the free ice cream...:bluecry1:

For nurses week we got a nice lunch bag with the logo on it. For hospital week we got a big bag with the logo, a mug, and a $800 bonus. Bonus was nice but I don't like feeling like I'm a walking billboard. Also various lunches throughout both weeks.

Our company had a meal sent in from an area restaurant. Unfortunately after the first shift nurses were done eatting they sent in the CNA's for a bite. Aside from the fact that there was very little food left for the 2nd & 3rd shifts, the food was left in the breakroom unopened until morning.:crying2::banghead:

Nothing from admin and not so much as a 'Happy Nurses' Week' either.

My direct supervisor gave us all a flower.
