What Did You Get For Nurses Week?

Published

I have been MIA from allnurses for a long time so I decided to start a topic...I just received my "nurses week" gift from my management team at the hospital were I work. Last year we got a pen and this year we got one of those tall aluminum bottles that keeps your drinks cold/hot, with the hospital logo on it!! Yay! *sacrasm over* At least we got a useable gift.

Curious on what other facilities have done or currently doing for their staff for nurses week. Please share.

An exercise band and a Zumba class during work hours. Are they trying to tell us something?

We got some sort of swag but our manager was busy with a crisis and never got around to distributing a lot of it, and no one minded not getting whatever it was.

Nothing, not even a thank you from management. If you go to work , you get a paycheck.

A hot/cold mug (which this post just reminded me I had) 😀

Specializes in ICU.

Actually this year wasn't too bad. Usually its the water bottle. How many do I need when I really only have one I like thats not from work anyway. But we got a dry bag (live in an outdoorsy area), and a portable phone charger (like the ones that you can use to charge your phone if you run out of juice). Better than nothin!

A charm bracelet (again) and a blanket. And chocolate.

Specializes in LTC, Assisted Living, Surgical Clinic.

Our facility does nothing for Nurse's Week other than to say thank you in the daily meeting. They talk a good talk about how wonderful and appreciated we are, but the lack of action kind of negates the words. I don't expect big expensive gifts, but this is what really nags at me about it: our facility is more than profitable enough that they could at least cater in a lunch or something. Feels like a big middle finger to all us nurses.

I actually made out pretty well. I got Starbucks most of the week, ice cream for the week, lunch one day and then a camelback water bottle personalized.

Last year we got gift certificates for new scrubs and a nice brunch that included shrimp.

This year we got an insulated tumbler from a hospital we partner with and a breakfast/ice cream social.

A deduction in pay

At one point, I worked for 4 different home health agencies. I got two $25 visa giftcards, a $15 Starbucks giftcard, and a cute keychain with "nursing" type charms on it.

Our facility changed it to "Employees Week" years ago, and has activities, no gifts.
