What Did You Get For Nurses Week?

Published

I have been MIA from allnurses for a long time so I decided to start a topic...I just received my "nurses week" gift from my management team at the hospital were I work. Last year we got a pen and this year we got one of those tall aluminum bottles that keeps your drinks cold/hot, with the hospital logo on it!! Yay! *sacrasm over* At least we got a useable gift.

Curious on what other facilities have done or currently doing for their staff for nurses week. Please share.

Wait!!! When was nurses week? :woot:

Nurses week...you mean healthcare week ?? You mean someone appreciates their staff ? Absolutely nothing; however our pharmacy sent a fax that said thank you.

I went to the local David's Tea and got a free iced tea that turned out to be awful.

Management said every shift would get food but seeing as I work nights we were overlooked (per usual) and instead they asked the charge nurse 1hr before work to get donuts and coffee at dunkin for the night shift. By the time we got there the coffee and the donuts were cold. Yayyy night shiftí ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘

Donuts and coffee one night, giant cupcakes the next night, and a boatload of candy the next night, and for the final night of the week they opened the hospital cafeteria from 9pm until 1am to accommodate the night shifters (I was in shock) and the hospital leadership served us our food (which included giant cupcakes again FTW). I appreciated my hospital accommodating the night shifters!

The hospital I am traveling at gave staff nurses a bag with a pen, candy and phone charger. Nothing as usual for the travelers and contract staff. My company nothing not even a Thank You.

Absolutely nothing.

We don't do Nurse's Week (or Nurse's Day, for that matter). We do Hospital Week " because we don't want anyone to feel left out or excluded".

We got 1/2 size chocolate bar. Nothing like preaching to be healthy and then dolling out the candy. Sigh...

Today, I found an email. Dated May 12th. Wishing me a Happy Nurses Week.

Alberta Health Services. Not even the Nurses Breakfast this year. The two unions did everything.

Short staffed.

And a cafeteria meal voucher that went unused because of aforementioned gift.

Specializes in oncology, MS/tele/stepdown.

I'm a traveler, so I didn't get the hospital-provided gift, which was a water bottle. They did have a bunch of food stuff going on that week (Cinnabons in the cafeteria!) but I didn't know about it so I missed out. I did get a package from my agency, with candies, a pen, and a notebook.

I graduated from Nightingale College's RN-to-BSN program last summer and the program manager sent me the most touching personal note, thanking me for my contribution to the field of nursing. I love being a nurse and our community is unlike any other. Happy nurses week to all my nursing friends!
