I have been MIA from allnurses for a long time so I decided to start a topic...I just received my "nurses week" gift from my management team at the hospital were I work. Last year we got a pen and this year we got one of those tall aluminum bottles that keeps your drinks cold/hot, with the hospital logo on it!! Yay! *sacrasm over* At least we got a useable gift.
Curious on what other facilities have done or currently doing for their staff for nurses week. Please share.
Management said every shift would get food but seeing as I work nights we were overlooked (per usual) and instead they asked the charge nurse 1hr before work to get donuts and coffee at dunkin for the night shift. By the time we got there the coffee and the donuts were cold. Yayyy night shiftí ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘í ½í¸‘
Donuts and coffee one night, giant cupcakes the next night, and a boatload of candy the next night, and for the final night of the week they opened the hospital cafeteria from 9pm until 1am to accommodate the night shifters (I was in shock) and the hospital leadership served us our food (which included giant cupcakes again FTW). I appreciated my hospital accommodating the night shifters!
I graduated from Nightingale College's RN-to-BSN program last summer and the program manager sent me the most touching personal note, thanking me for my contribution to the field of nursing. I love being a nurse and our community is unlike any other. Happy nurses week to all my nursing friends!
