What color are your school uniforms?

I thought this would be an interesting topic of discussion.

What color are the uniforms that you all wear to clinical rotations? The scrubs at the school that I currently attend are maroon. We have the option of wearing a white warm-up jacket on those chilly days.

When I was attending an LVN program back in 2004 and 2005, our uniforms consisted of a royal blue scrub top and white pants. We also had the option of wearing a white warm-up jacket on cold days.

I go to a community college with a VERY stuffy nursing department. We wear solid white! Even our shoes have to be solid white. We look very retarded and outdated! My sister-in-law just graduated from University of Louisville where their scrubs were black and red...totally cool!

Our uniforms are navy blue, top and bottom.

For our peds rotation we can where whatever scrubs we want.

Shoes are to be white, but as long as they're closed-toe and look clean the faculty doesn't pay much attention.

All i can say is

at least we get to wear black tights and shoes thankfully

Umm...wow. I'm sorry. lol

Why would anyone insist on nurses wearing dresses? We work, and we work hard.

What do the guys wear when you are required to wear dresses?

That looks like a military thing.

Or British?

I vaguely remember when they were white and blue striped and you have to have collars and cuffs etc.

we have to wear a white uniform with our school emblem on it. have you get white shoes with no logo, white socks, white undershirts. the uniform costs 100$ it included a shirt, pant and a thin jacket.

I go to Muhlengberg Nursing School in NJ and we wear white scrub pants and maroon T-shirts with our logo on it. It's not a flimsy T you can buy in a department store, they're thicker material. On top of the shirt we have to wear either a white vest or consultation jacket...both are pretty ugly. Usually we get so hot during clinical we don't even wear the vest or jacket. I can't wait to burn them when school is over....

My school requires navy blue scrub tops and bottoms from Dickies, with a patch of the school seal on the left sleeve. They don't care which style, just so long as they're the same color. They've even let scrubs from other manufacturers slide, so long as they're navy blue.

Lab coats have to be white and knee-length, again with the school seal patch sewn onto the left sleeve at the shoulder.

Shoes are supposed to be all white, but that gets overlooked as long as they're mostly white and clean.

During our psych rotation we are specifically told not to wear the scrub uniform. For psych, community, and some volunteering locations, we wear business casual, which for guys usually means a polo or button-down shirt and slacks.

I'm in a Master's Entry program, by the way.

As an editorial comment, the general trend seems to be the farther down the academic pecking order one's program is, the more old-school/uptight they are about the uniform. Then again, with first-time students a lot more has to be drilled into their heads along the lines of proper behavior and dress as opposed to people who've been through college once and held down a job...

our scrubs are our school's colors-navy blue and white. Navy blue top and pants with our school logo in white in the upper left. White shoes, although some clinical instructors dont care, and in that case, I will wear my black danskos.

We have a white coat to go with if we are cold.

No real rules on how to wear the hair. I pull it back now that its grown past my shoulders though.

I'm not sure I agree with this, I am a first time college student if you include my pre reqs (although I feel like I have been in college forever with pre reqs and a 3.5 year wait list) but I did not need anything drilled into my head, I knew how to act and have held down jobs since I was 14 years old. I wasn't one of the students posting about the old school uniforms but as far as the bold part I am a first time college student.
