I thought this would be an interesting topic of discussion.
What color are the uniforms that you all wear to clinical rotations? The scrubs at the school that I currently attend are maroon. We have the option of wearing a white warm-up jacket on those chilly days.
When I was attending an LVN program back in 2004 and 2005, our uniforms consisted of a royal blue scrub top and white pants. We also had the option of wearing a white warm-up jacket on cold days.
Oh you poor poor people. Our school has two options. All black, which look slick and are the students new personal favorites. Or we have the old gold tops with black pants. I dont mind either sets but they both look good, all black just looks better. I even wear black trauma pants on some days because I have yet to find a set of black scrub bottoms I like.
We have navy blue pants with tapered leg or wide leg. Then our tops are white with buttons and then we have white lab coats. They don't fade at all over time though which is nice. All you have to do is soak them in white vinegar (1 cup for a full wash load and 1/2 cup for a half load) for 30 min when you first get them (like colors only) and it sets the dyes to prevent the fading. Then you just wash them regular. After 2 yrs the senior level uniforms look just like our brand new ones. :)
We are white on white to...of course with the school patch thats red and white so no bleaching for us. Honestly I can get over the color...its the textrue of our uniforms that drives me crazy...its like wearing cardboard for 12 hours!! I would think I'd died and gone to heaven if they let us wear some scrubs
For clinicals, my school is all white. Thankfully it doesn't require the school logo so I will bleach all the icky stuff that might get on it.
For formal events, volunteering, and community health nursing, my school requires a white polo shirt with the school logo, and khaki or navy blue pants.
They're a whole lot of WHITE, White shoes, lab coat, scrubs, undershirt, underwear, Can't have no rings, necklaces, hair accessories, hair MUST be up, no long nails. Can't wait to graduate and get to wear colors, I've actually had a psych patient ask if I was an angel coming to take him to God. We get to wear a smidgen of green that's on our school badges.
We have cele (smurf) blue scrubs with our logo sewn in the tops in white on the right chest side, we have to wear white socks and white shoes (all white), we can wear white long sleeves under the top if it's cold and their is a cele blue long sleeve lab coat we can buy as well if it's cold. Nails must be short, neatly groomed and no polish or fake nails. One ring (either engagment of wedding ring) is allowed, one pair of studed earrings. Hair must be kept back.
I think that is it.
For our BSN program we wear all Landau-white v neck tops with the school logo (black and gold) with the white jacket, then for pants we have to wear the Landau brand cargo pants white or navy- why 2 different color bottoms? I don't know! All white shoes-no color at all. Hair off collar, no nails of any length. Beige undies under the white pants. Our director recommends buying the guys pants if you want more coverage. I have heard they are stronger and thicker. Kelli

I like our uniforms - they are royal blue, all white shoes and socks w/ the school patch on one arm. I haven't bought them yet, waiting for a meeting we have in a couple weeks to find out exactly what style we have to buy. But, I've seen the nursing students wear them, and they are nice, I think.
