I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Changing to a population-based Senate representation would have California making decisions for Alaskan citizens. Is that what you want?
I am glad that more sparely populated states have representation in law-making. But I think that election of the president should be determined by popular vote, not the Electoral College.

Agreed. That'll teach me to comment before I scroll back to pick up the thread of a conversation.
It's the era of conmen, grifters and charlatans. Thank goodness they were caught.

Did you catch the Oscar's on Sunday?
QuoteAfter former President Donald Trump posted a scathing review of Jimmy Kimmel's performance as host of the 2024 Oscars, Kimmel read it on air during the ceremony — and threw a dig at the 2024 Republican presidential frontrunner.
In a post on social media, Trump asked rhetorically if there was ever a "worse host" than Kimmel at the Oscars and criticized his opening monologue. He also made the sarcastic suggestion that ABC, which broadcasts the Oscars, should have replaced four-time host Kimmel with "Good Morning America" co-anchor George Stephanopoulos (or, as Trump called him, "George Slopanopoulos").
Quote"Thank you, President Trump," he continued. "Thank you for watching. I'm surprised you're still up. Isn't it past jail time?" The crack — which referred to Trump being charged in four criminal cases at the state and federal levels — received a round of applause at the awards show.
The GOP candidate again demonstrates a ridiculous lack of self control or reasonable judgment. People are planning to vote for that.

It makes my heart sing that they are still going after these people.

QuotePresident Joe Biden's proposed 2025 budget includes some perks for millions of families and low-income workers as well as senior citizens, including reviving a program that lifted millions of children out of poverty during the pandemic.
The budget, released Tuesday, aims to pay for those tax breaks by raising taxes on corporations and the rich. One proposal, for instance, would completely reverse one of the cuts implemented by former President Donald Trump, whose 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act mostly eased the tax burdens on businesses and the nation's highest earners.
What are the odds that any of these presidential budget ideas get debated on the floor of the House?
QuotePresident Joe Biden's budget proposal for 2025 includes a $4.7 billion emergency fund for border security to enable the Department of Homeland Security to ramp up operations in the event of a migrant surge, according to a portion of the budget reviewed by NBC News.
The contingency fund would let DHS tap into funds on an as-needed basis when the number of undocumented migrants crossing the southern border tops a certain threshold that is unspecified in the budget. If the money is not used to address a surge, the money would be transferred to the general funds of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
I think we can guess that this will not get any traction from the republican House in 2024. Biden can campaign on it, though.

Do you think that the question posed to her was intended to shame her? Or was she simply trying to change the narrative away from that which acknowledges that Trump is a sexual abuser and defamer of his victims?
Georgie certainly has evolved since his days quieting down Clinton's "Bimbo eruptions", hasn't he.
Was your spouse upset that he had the gall to ask how she could support someone accused of rape?
nursej22 said:And it was ridiculous to say that a finding of rape was less valid in a civil court than criminal court.
It is. This fact has been acknowledged by others here as the burden of proof is much, much lower.

Well, Article I, Section 2 does say persons. Do Republicans consider undocumented migrants to not be persons?
