I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Considering who was relieved (group commander, squadron commander within the same group, and 4 subordinate commanders and the mission of the 5th Mission Support Group, my suspicion is that this likely occurred as a result of misconduct in one ofnthe subordinate commands.

I wonder if that military base is one that allows Fox News or OAN to be played in public areas continuously.
I recently had opportunity to visit three military bases (two Air Force and one Army) in NC, and all of area with television news programming on were on CNN.

What did you think was interesting about that article?

I think it's irresponsible of media to elevate things because agitation is good for their bottom line.
The hearing on Tuesday will be interesting since some of the Republicans seem to think there's new evidence which proves them right about a lab leak or something.
Anyone with the IQ of a pine cone knew that the scientific community was pretty evenly divided. We knew that because we read stories from ALL sources...not just take MTG's word for it. My opinion was that we might never know. I'm OK with uncertainty.

Give us a break. Anyone claiming it was a lab leak or calling it the Chinese virus was labeled a bigot and xenophobe. Anyone that dared say it was a lab leak was castigated by liberal media. So take your revisionist history some where else.

That's good. When I worked as a military contractor, all of the military facilities that I visited in Alaska were inundated with Fox programming on their public televisions, including in the command suites. It was surprising to see so much Fox but it was alarming to see OAN.

That's what your media must have told you but so far you've not provided any evidence that what you believe is actually true. I mean, you are welcome to believe what you want but it's always better when we believe things that are factually supported rather than just things that we feel a certain way about.
Maybe you've noticed that right wing media has a habit of spreading partisan animus and division through misinformation... just because their viewers believe stuff doesn't mean that it's true. Take electron fraud as an example.

Since the earliest documented case of AIDS happened in New York City in 1969, maybe we should call it the American Scourge. No one knows how it got there and probably never will. As you say - we need to get more comfortable with uncertainty.
The hysteria over HIV has a lot to teach us about racism, scapegoating and sheer stinkin' thinkin'. HIV was a dangerous and contagious infection that killed many more than necessary because humans were too stupid to take basic steps to fight it. Instead we wasted time using it to advance unrelated political, social and religious agendas. Sound familiar?
With 6 billion people alive in the world today, the next lethal pandemic is just around the corner. Remember: the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.

The virus did come from China so its stupid to say that it is xenophobic to call it the China Virus. Is "the virus that came from China" a nicer way to say it?
Anyone who asulted Asian Americans who were POC can't be xenophobic. Due to power or something......

You should explain. It sounds like you are struggling to understand what xenophobia might include.

Oh right! POC can be xenophobic but not racist.....
It's hard to keep up with all the "phobias" and the ridiculous convoluted rules.
China. It came from China. COVID came from China. Does that explain it well enough for you?
