What caught your attention in the world today?

Published

I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news.  I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

According to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.

Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.

The arrested the guy the next day.

What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

You have absolutely no evidence that young children are being taught what you claim.  This is just manufactured by far right people who fell for conspiracy theory quality of the "news."  Teachers aren't sadists except in your world.

I have no doubt that there are incompetent or ill-advised teachers who think that guilt-tripping kids = education. Given the right-wing assaults on actual educators, the proportion of such incompetents might actually be growing as real teachers get fed up and leave.

Too bad the tender concern for the emotional well-being of those poor self-loathing kids doesn't extend to non-European, gay/trans/non-binary and non-Christian kids (for a starter).

So Trump ithe Secret Service goes home if Trump isn't there?

I would image the security at Trumps property extends to the grounds as well.. silly concept.

There is plenty of evidence but as I have said before you just need to know how to find it. There are many articles that discuss it and along with that the fact that the DOJ was targeting parents (calling them terrorists!)  who were complaining about the fact that they didn't like their kids being subjected to this nonsense should also tell you that it is in fact true. You can deny it till the cows come home but kids K-12 are being taught CRT (and as pointed out earlier just not the college version) and IMO it is very harmful bc it is not merely the history but creates victims and oppressors in the present day.

Saying that educating the victim will decrease their likelihood for assault is blaming them. Have you at any point suggested that educating law enforcement that they should not administer so blows to a suspect as to cause death? That would go a long way to prevent tragedy.

No, it's not "blaming them" it's trying to save them from a potential interaction with a bad police officer. It's obvious they exist. So why is it so wrong to suggest behaviors that may help protect their life? We want to save lives right? If educating youth is "victim blaming" as you call it, then so be it. It's worth being called a name to save a life.

It is a fact that certain behaviors and actions will reduce the likelihood of having a violent interaction with a police officer.

Do you have any evidence of this lack of emotional well-being  for "non-European, gay/trans/non-binary and non-Christian kids, beyond your own diluted feelings?

This is your evidence?  The Spectator article - pure opinion.  The City News - no evidence.  The teacher from Minnesota presented nothing except what comes out of her mouth.  If teachers were "told" to use all the language she is stating, why doesn't she have anything in writing?  Fox News II - nothing new.  The Heritage.org article - generalized mud slinging.  All these teachers and students have phones and yet, not one recording was presented by any of these far right sources you mention.  There's a lot of teachers in this country and we can expect the normal percentage of miscreants and the curriculum committee can deal with them...if the parents want that.  Yoga was banned in my gym class in high school because it was considered part of a non-Christian way of life according to some parents and my school went along with appeasing them!  School boards bend over backwards to accomodate parents (generally) so I don't think CRT is anything for us to get our panties in a wad.

It would only take 15 minutes of your time to read about the higher suicide rates of children among your above list.

The DOJ was not targeting parents who complained about curriculum. They were instructed to investigate threats of physical harm and death. A crime that crosses state lines is often investigated by the DOJ.

My daughter and her fellow school board members have received death threats. One, a business owner, had thousands of dollars of damage done to their store. Their story has been broadcast across the US via conservative media. Some of the death threats were traced to an out of state source. Is this acceptable to you?

Do you have evidence of the emotional trauma supposedly being inflicted on white cisgendered straight kids by hearing that some kids' parents are the same gender? Or that those beautiful, iconic stone walls in New England were built largely by slaves and indentured labor (not to mention the economy of the original 13 conlonies)? Or that theft and genocide was justified by the theories of Manifest Destiny and Social Darwinism? Or that the "heroic" pioneers of the westward expansion of the US depended on the US military clearing out local indigenous populations to make room? Or that many of our most iconic public figures were as queer as a three dollar bill? Or that the genetic basis of gender is a whole lot more complex than we used to think? Or that transgender people exist worldwide and are recognized, accepted and valued in more than one culture?

Puh-leez!

So you do not have any evidence then. Only a plethora of deflection.

The DOJ did in fact target parents who didn't like their kids being taught racism AKA CRT. I posted this to point out that the schools are in fact teaching this bc you all keep denying it. The abuse of the FBI is a different story altogether which is why the investigation.

No I do not condone any acts of violence against anyone for any reason. That includes violence from BLM, Antifa and the Democrat politicians who incite such violence based some how on racial or political agendas. Many republicans have also been financially and physically hurt by these threats and attacks. IMO it needs to stop and come from leadership but it is the Dems who support the violence by their policies.

I am sorry about your daughter, nobody deserves that!
