What caught your attention in the world today?

Published

I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news.  I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

According to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.

Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.

The arrested the guy the next day.

What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Yes. I agree with what you say. It's hard to discuss anything but, because the info we get from media is all about political affliation, etc. I was more referring to the media in my comment.

Not speculating is a good idea that is lost on today's media and personal discussions.

I stand corrected then.  The media I consume makes no mention of political affiliation.  I heard talk on NPR about the possibility of a hate crime but not political affiliation.   I saw mention of his grandfather's affiliation, whom apparently he was raised by, on social media not mainstream media.  Most news stories aren't making a big deal out of his grandfather or his political affiliation that I can tell.

But it's not even on CNN's  homepage any more.  They've moved on to the next mass shooting.

Excuse my tongue in cheek comment. CNN stopped reporting because the shooter isn't a MAGAphile straight cis man LOL. Or will under report because the suspect is non binary. The most trusted news and all.

Tongue in cheek noted.  Part of me knows that your sarcasm contains some element of your beliefs.

Never mind whatever else I was going to say.  My usually open mind is snapping shut on how else to respond.  LOL

A mass shooting in which we do not know much about and you find a way to throw in the fake word megaphile and insert something from Jan.6.

The political affiliation of his grandfather is of no relevance.  This person did the crime, not his family or his or their political affiliation.

I would be cautious because the irrelevance of this person's grandfather political affiliation may not even be true. Wouldn't be the first time the media got it "wrong".

Right and had she not I highly doubt anyone else here would have....

LOL. Your feelings about a word seem to be the most importation aspect of any conversation.  I wonder what that means?

Are details and facts about this killer's family and life troubling for you?  It's not like the killer's grandfather isn't a former elected official with a public record...

You've been wrong before...

Yes. I am. I'm also ADHD. Do you find those with these medical issues somehow lesser than you?

My son is on the spectrum. Have anything to say about that?

My feelings about a made up word are nil. However, considering you like to interject that word into almost everything, I feel like reminding you that it is a fake word when you do. Especially when you demand pin point accuracy and have used dictionary definitions of words in your post. And  acusations of the  use of hyperbolic speech.  Seems peculiar that your style would allow you to use a made up word. Your feelings about Republicans and Trump seem to be the most important aspect of every conversation. I too wonder why that is?

The killer's grandfather's, grandfathers' mother's sister have nothing to do with him really. Other than to assign something negative to a political party you, very clearly feel distain for.

I have been wrong many times and will admit to it. However I'm unsure how you are the one who gets to decide who is right and who is wrong on these forums? You have been wrong also I'm sure, but as another member pointed out, you have trouble admitting to it.

Oh. The member replied to my comment by asking me if I'm dyslexic out of sheer curiosity?

They were probably just asking out of the blue and were not trying to be derogatory towards my post in anyway right?

Just like magaphile?

No worries! You're right! I do not believe CNN is a credible news source.  LOL

Sheriffs in Colorado Springs EL Paso County, where the Club Q shooting took place,  have refused to enforce 'red flag' laws and the county declared itself a 'Second Amendment preservation county' in 2019 per Colorado 9News report -- also reported on Philly ABC TV station about this shooting.

Shooter was subdued then pistol whipped along with club dancer stomping on his face to make sure he was down  per man who stopped him in TV news reports I saw--- also reported by Times of San Diego in there article:

Colorado Springs Shooting Suspect, Grandson of Assembly’s Randy Voepel, Appears in Court

With my RN experience: facial injuries, concussion+ possible closed head injury would be expected in someone pummeled in the head + why shooter looked so bad at arraignment. BUT, he was stopped from more carnage --11 persons from Club Q melee still remain hospitalized.

Your claim is that El Paso County SO failed to enforce the red flag law.  Your source for that is a story written before the law was in place and then was updated 2 days after the governor signed it into law.

Do you have anything that actually backs up your claim?

Yes … I would happily do worse to anyone trying to shoot my grandson. Gotta wonder what, if anything, went through their head when they realized that their targets were actually fighting back. Quel surprise!
