viewed cheating,what to do,if anythig?

Please advise.

I know everyone has worked extremely hard to get where they are. I do not enjoy having to ask for this type of advice...I have seen, (more than once, in more than one class) two people who are constantly cheating on exams.

They sit right next to each other and neither this instructor nor the last instructor we had in another class noticed it.

I do not know how to deal with it any longer. I am not the only one who has noticed it but no one wants to say anything unless it can be anonymous. Please offer any suggestions you may have to this sensitive topic. These people are going to be NURSES! I just can't wrap my head around it. Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.

I have reported and will continue to report cheaters, I don't care what happens to them but I work pretty hard to get the grades I get, and if one of them got a job over me because their grades look better, I'd be pretty ticked off. It is also a requirement in our school's honor code to report cheating.

If anything, the last person they'd suspect is the dude/gal who helped them on their study guide ... o_O

Ignore them. Concentrate on your own behavior and your own studies. Just stay alert, however. They will at some point in life get caught, possibly not in this particular class, so you may not be lucky enough to enjoy the comeuppance. You can't be responsible for their behavior, nor can you change anyone's behavior on yours or their behalf. Case in point. One of my former friends, now a renowned psychologist, cheated constantly in high school when she was an exchange student in our high school; even going so far as to ask me to give her the answers to exams. She got her degrees doing whatever she could do to get them. Everyone is different and will use various methods to get ahead. Again, do what you have to do to be happy and/or be a success.

You're sure everyone has "worked extremeley hard to get where they are?"; You're sure "neither this instructor nor the last instructor we had in another class noticed it?" What would happen if you "did not know how to deal with it any longer?" You're sure "you are not the only one who noticed it but no one wants to say a anything unless it can be anonymous?" You're sure nurses are immune to doing things that are unethical and immoral?

No doubt the correct thing to do is make sure the instructors in question are made aware of the situation if not just to be more aware so they can catch them.

Perhaps the instructor could have a talk with the class before the next test and let the entire class be aware that it has been noted and those who cheat will be called out and escorted out of the testing area, and receive a failing grade. Remember it is the insturctors job to monitor test taking so this doesn't happen. And perhaps the instructor can remind the class that if they are trying to make it through nursing school by cheating, then they may be in for a big surprise come time for boards. There is no chance of cheating there.

I have seen cheaters in my class as well.

You exclaimed,"and they're going to be NURSES!" My reaction is more like.....cheat now...you will never pass the NCLEX! THAT is what gets you your license.

Oh, and I think the teacher figured out part of the cheating.....evening students getting a heads up on the test from the day students.....we now take a different test than the day class! :D

I hate this expression more than anything when it comes to cheating. The girl I was describing who did cheat passed the NCELX. It speaks a great deal to character so what else are they willing to cut corners on

For some people happiness and success comes from having done things the proper way (eventhough it may have been harder or more work, or even failure) rather than taking short cuts or cheating to get ahead. Karma may come and get them 20 years from now, but why wait? If you do not respect the program and your fellow classmates enough not to cheat, why would I owe you the favor to keep quiet. If you have to cheat then get out of NS, you don't have the intelligence, skill set, or perhaps the dedication required for the program. There are so many other areas in which one can study. I would rather fail knowing I tried by best rather than to "succeed" knowing I cheating. My :twocents:

Report it. It's our obligation to protect the public.

I don't think you need to worry about getting the chance to see them get caught and punished as if its some kind of reward or pleasure(sad). Report anonymously simply because it is an assumption that the instructors don't know. Your first responsibility in school is to do well and pass. It is not worth it to get tied up in someone elses drama at the expense of your education. Hang in there and do the right thing. :)

I agree!!! concentrate on your own behavior! People don't have enough to do in nursing school... that they are worrying about other people?? They will get theirs eventually! They will not be able to pass NCLEX if they cheat their way through nursing school.

Mind your own business! I'm sure you will get ramifications in the future!

Just get through nursing school.
