Vent Sesh

It's one of those days. I feel myself being much less patient than usual. So now I'll spend a minute complaining about everything that's annoying me.

  • Administration moved the printer into my office. People won't stop asking me for printer help "how do I fix a jam? Where do we keep extra paper?" or chatting my ear off while I'm trying to work. Not caring when I say "sorry I can't help, I've got to get this done."
  • I'm keeper of the tissues. While on the phone with a parent a little (old enough to know better) came in and screamed "I NEED TISSUES" then beat the tissue box on my door frame (as I held a "one second please" finger up) until I got off the phone.
  • Multiple high schoolers telling me they feel sick but can't find any words to describe WHAT feels ill or HOW it feels ill. Then flabbergasted when I say they have to go back to class.
  • High schooler came in and reported symptom of "I feel like I'm being sucked to the ground like a vacuum. Like into a black hole." WUT.

Anyone else need to vent?

I just can't!!!!! I had one of my frequent fliers come in with a juice in one hand and a glucometer in the other "I am shaky and low."

Ughhh, this girl IS NOT A DIABETIC but one of her friends is and friend's mom got her set up....................

Turns out she has been checking her BS in class for weeks with no questions from teachers until today. I JUST CAN'T.

We had threats of a snow day but nothing happened so everybody is super disappointed today. I live in the part of Texas where flu, cold and allergy season all blend together so FUN TIMES!!

YES! central Texas here and what a disappointment to have no precipitation we should have had a bad weather day! I have been busy this morning

We're due for some snow and ice tonight here in MA and if we don't have at least a delay tomorrow, I can only imagine how the general disappointment for the kids will drive them to me... Only 7 more school days until Winter Break!!

I spoke with the mom this afternoon about the student with the glucometer. Good lord, she has been wearing another student's cgm on top of it. When asked about doctors orders - "well, they (endocrinologist) just want her to do spot checks. But, it will only be through this week anyway."

Yep, just 2 moms that decided they would diagnose and treat!!!!

Had granddad drop off his granddaughters at his heels saying to call him if they don't feel well. Well, we all know what happens, I give TUMS to the kinder and she comes back saying she wants to go home, her stomach isn't too bad, but GD said she could go home. Called and let him know she was done, not sick, just done. Consequences of actions. It sounds like he got it. Sesh...

I had this happen last year- a little first grade kiddo totally not sick but kept saying "my mom said you would call her and she would come get me". This went on off and on from drop off until about 9:30. I finally called his mother and of course she says "I can't come get him, I have to work". I explained that the only reason I was calling was because she told him she would come get him and now he was a mess and refusing to be in the classroom. She actually admitted she should not have said that and made arrangements and came and got him.

We got a 2hour delay, though most schools in our county cancelled. I'm honestly praying for at least one more snow day, and while I don't really want to be in school deep into June, I also do not want our last day to be a Monday (which it is presently...)

6 More Wake-ups!
