Vaccination for clinical

Hey all,

I just got accepted to the nursing program at my school. I've been there for about year doing the pre-req's and got accepted for Summer entry!

Part of the requirements clinical is to get all my vaccinations up to date and a TB test.

I'm not a believer in vaccinations. I filled out the paper work to attend college in the first place without getting vaccinated. At the time they called it a religious exception, so while that wasn't the reason I went with it because they didn't ask any more questions.

I'm just not interested in being injected with all the extra crap in the vaccine. The preservatives, the mercury and all the other junk. The high levels of failure of the vaccine as well as the toxins in the vaccines.

This is not a discussion about vaccines and anti-vaxers... this is about my clinical application to nursing school. I understand the hospitals want it because of our exposure to patients but I simply don't want that crap in my body.

Is there a way to get out of the vaccinations for my clinical?

Again no debate on why... I just want to know about possibilities to still enter my clinical without the vaccines.

Thanks,

John

I heard essential oils can protect you. Just bring them to your school and they'll get it.

Get with the program and watch Balto!

As evidenced by a rise in antivaxxer crazies leading to multiple outbreaks of a once eradicated disease? Ah yes, clearly there is some other reason for the outbreaks because it wasn’t the vaccinations preventing them in the past. It’s probably also just a coincidence that I happened to develop Hep B antibodies only after receiving the vaccination for Hep B. But yea no, keep holding your breath that it will be optional someday. ?

Wow, I’m coming in late but I am blown away by the vitriol. Vaccines are barely effective and exceedingly risky for many ppl. As a nurse I would never force a patient to take a medication they didn’t want and I would never say that every pt should get the same dose of penicillin regardless of allergy or predisposition to injury. Vaccine laws are not only laughable but they are fraudulent. No safety studies, no informed consent, no recourse if you are injured (can’t sue the manufacturer, you’re up against the fed govt), and not only are you forced to get them but you get attacked for even having concerns. You can legally abort your baby but not refuse a vaccine. It’s ludicrous.

Im vaccinated and am vehemently opposed to them, but I will get fired if I refuse. It’s disgusting.

It should be your body, your choice especially when you’re injecting formaldehyde, aluminum, mercury, aborted fetal dna, live monkey viruses, etc. into your body. It’s a real shame that nurses are so quick to clobber a person for advocating for themselves.

Vaccines are very much a deity in the medical field and our country overall, it’s a religion that dehumanizes decenters. It’s unfounded and it’s bullying.

To the OP- I share your belief on vaccines, the risks do outway the benefit. Unfortunately though, in order to be a nurse you have to submit to an unnecessary medical intervention without informed consent to practice. There doesn’t seem to be any way around it currently. It won’t always be that way tho, the cat is out of the bag about the corrupt and fraudulent CDC and a lot more ppl are waking up to the dangers. You only have one body so you have to do what’s right for you...and tune out those who get aggressive, it’s the first indication that they are coming from a place of emotion and not of facts.

There are so many things wrong with all of this that I could write a short novel. I'll just focus on the one glaring comment "it should be your body, your choice..."

It is your choice. Nobody is forcing you to do anything. Companies require it for employment in a healthcare setting because it would be downright ignorant not to. Vaccines prevent the spread of disease. They are not "barely effective." Read a microbiology book.

I was waiting to see how many posts it would take before the autism "argument" surfaced. That's the most crazy-making aspect of the anti-vax argument to me. As medicine is a constantly and rapidly evolving and progressing field, the "more vaccines explains more cases of autism" makes no sense to me. Vaccinations have improved and evolved. Diagnostic criteria, application of the correct diagnosis of autism (it was previously diagnosed/documented as "intellectually disabled"), and parental/provider awareness of autism has improved and evolved. Not related, just two completely separate examples of the wonderful advances made in medicine.

People panicking about autism being 'on the rise' never realize that the other issue is recognizing that autistic people can be highly intelligent. The vast majority of new diagnoses are in people who don't struggle academically so badly but who struggle socially.

That whole vaccines = autism thing has been thoroughly debunked.

It was based on a study by that whackjob Andrew Wakefield, who has since been discredited and the paper retracted. He lost his medical license in the UK, and he's not licensed to practice in the US.

For all the hullabaloo about BiG pHaRmA, Wakefield was paid to fabricate evidence yet he's some kind of Anti-Vaxx Deity.

I wonder if the OP ever got into nursing school ? How did that work out for you, @skyrookie?

Hello all,

Even though I knew nearly 100% of the responses would be negative, I wanted to hear the possibilities. Interesting how we are all in the caring sciences, but can not showing caring compassion for someone trying to enter the profession.

I had a fear of needles due to experiences as a child with my mom being in the hospital. Also there is know plenty of research around the preservatives used in vaccines. I never once mentioned the autism argument. Just like the copious amounts of sodium added to our foods to preserve them, vaccines also contain a lot of preservatives. Many of these preservatives are toxic to certain people.

As for my personal path over the last several weeks, I ended up getting the Tdap vaccine to update my tetorifice. My school suggested the Tdap instead of just tetorifice because apparently Pertussis has made a come back. I've also had Pertussis as a child. During the same visit to the clinic I had titres done for the other required vaccines, as expected I was already immune to the others. Then a few weeks later I changed doctors (as in my PCP, different insurance) so I had to get a CBC w/diff done, so more blood taken. That means I had to get poked 3 times in a few weeks, before all of this it's been years since I've even been in a medical facility.

So, yes I'm happy to report after this little bit of drama and a mountain of paperwork, forms other nonsense at school I did make it in! Which makes me proud, because this is best program in our state and it's competitive. Last week, was the first week of my program. It's certainly a full time program, I've been spending about 10 hrs a day working assignments and practicing for practical skills tests coming up.

I'd like to encourage all of you with negative responses (which is most), to reconsider your comments and consider where the "OP" is coming from. Maybe instead offer comforting comments or offer research that points towards your view.

Sincerely,

John R. (skyrookie)

I did consider it. You're coming from a place of fear and propaganda. What's 'lots of preservatives'? Do you know why they're there? Do you know the rate of allergic responses? Do you know which vaccines do and don't contain preservatives and why? You're making baseless claims, then asking people to prove you wrong. That's a rather large investment of time and frankly you don't seem to have enough devotion to truth behind evidence-based practice to bother using my time to teach you. Do your own research and stay away from anti-vaxx sites.

I'm glad you got vaccinated--having had pertussis only protects you for a few years, just fyi--but if you're going to try to find alternatives for the rest of your career, you will end up being a liability. Take the time to educate yourself properly or there's no point in you spending all the money to become a nurse.

Lol.. You want to be in a science based career and believe vaccines are fill of "toxins and crap".. Might wanna review those micro and physiology books. And stop trusting YouTube and "natural health. Com" over hundreds of thousands of papers of peer reviewed science.

Why do you think Pertussis has made a come back? Is it because of people like you?
