UW Transfer BSN 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I'm posting here to get any feedback from previous UWSoN students or current prenursing students who are applying for the 2019 cohort. A little bit about me is that I'm currently a student at OC in Washington, my prereq GPA for UW's required classes is about a 3.81 and my cumulative GPA is a 3.7. I have been working as a CNA/Medication assistant for almost half a year and will be continuing working until I move to Seattle for school. Any advice is greatly appreciated on housing, how to study for the proctored essay, and any way to better my chances! Thank you!

@Lorena93 didn't either... It must be so frustrating to have to wait till Monday! Does Adrian read these I wonder? Maybe you guys could PM him.

Actually, I'm surprised he didn't post today when decisions had gone out, come to think of it.

Hey @berserk_angel do you mind if we chat privately? I felt like we had many similarities while I was reading through everyone’s post and I would love to get your help on how to make my application stronger when I apply again next year. Unfortunately I didn’t get in :(

Of course, I'd love to! Just PM me, I don't totally understand how allnurses.com works but I'm pretty sure we can manage to set up a conversation :)

Yay!!!! Congratulations to everyone that's been accepted to the BSN program. I wanted to give an update since I last made this post. I was actually accepted to an RN program at a local community college and am finishing up my 1st year! I actually hope to do the bridge program next year once I get my ADN at UW Tacoma. Good luck to everyone starting nursing school this fall!! To those who weren't granted acceptance... UW-S is a highly competitive nursing program and kudos to you for putting yourself out there and TRYING. Keep trying and don't give up! I know it's cliche to say, but it's necessary!

Hi guys,

Is anyone else a transfer student? I know it’s probably unlikely, but I’m anxious that I won’t get admitted to the UW and won’t be able to attend the UW SoN. :( Hopefully I’ll get admitted, but letters don’t go out for a couple more months, so it just doesn’t feel like things are permanent right now. ?

@sm38 I applied as a post-bacc and I'm awaiting acceptance into UW as well. My understanding is that if you are accepted into the SoN you are almost guaranteed acceptance into UW. I remember reading or hearing somewhere that it's less than a 1% chance that you won't be admitted to UW after being admitted to the SoN and that usually has to do with a big error in your application.

Sm38, I'm in the same boat, I'm technically a post-bacc but I think I submitted the transfer application, I hope that doesn't mess things up for me, but a co-worker of mine said its basically just a formality and it's very likely nothing to worry about. But I feel the same, I'm worried about declining my SU offer in case something happens with UW but the timing doesn't allow me to wait for UW to make decisions before the SU deposit is due and I lose $300 if I have to change my mind after accepting SU

@hdak good on you!! :D I was wondering about you as the OP.

You guys, please don't worry about the general UW app. We've already done the impossible and gotten admitted to the BSN program (!) just consider it as finalized in your mind once you submit the intent to register form. I for one don't plan to lose any sleep over the UW app, I've read many times that UW SON will fight for us to be admitted if for some bizarre reason your UW app is unsatisfactory. I'm not sure about the post bacc stuff but I think it works the same way?

Also, I attended the online transfer student info session... Carlos Williams, "Assistant Director of Admissions for Transfer Recruitment" (copy pasted that) said that if we are missing items or transcripts from our UW general app, UW will actually notify us and give us a chance to submit the missing elements.

@UDub1861 and @Duckygirl8203 thanks for getting back to me! I’ve heard the same, that it’s very unlikely that we won’t get into the UW main campus. My nerves are telling me I forgot something major on my application haha.

@berserk_angel oh, that’s awesome! Thanks for letting us know ?

What about if we are waitlisted? Does that affect our general UW admissions at all? Since the waitlist can move, all the way up to right before Fall quarter starts, I'm worried I won't get accepted into UW before I know about the SoN admissions. Versus the other way around where being accepted to the SoN will help with the general admissions.

Ahhhhh, I don't know about that one. I would contact the SON directly. I've used [email protected] in the past, they answer within 1-2 days at most. Or you could ask Carlos, [email protected] he answers transfer app questions too.

Being #6 on the wait list is pretty darn close! I mean there's already a couple of people on here saying they're thinking of going to SU. I hope you get in!!

@ackermc3 I would assume UW general admission will let you know by May/June just like all other applicants, regardless of whether you were waitlisted for the SoN, and I don’t believe that your acceptance to the program will help/hinder that!
