UTMB FALL 2014

Published

I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?

AScibby86, Did you do a title page and abstract? I am looking up the guidelines for Apa format and it shows a title page and abstract, did you do that ? Or anyone else?

I did do a title page, but did not do an abstract since it was not a research paper.

I just finished with my interview. Everyone at the school is so nice! Like Ascibby86 said, I would suggest arriving early because many roads are closed off by the parking garage. Good luck to everyone!

I had my interview on Monday. There isn't anything anyone should be stressed about! It is all very relaxed. (:

Just got done with campus tour and one of the counselors stated you must have interview to get accepted ! I think this is new because one of the senior students there said she did not have one. So I guess it is changed. Just thought I would let everyone know! But it is still early so no worrying!:)

I was actually able to reschedule my interview, and went in last week. I can really only echo what every one else has said. The interview was one on one and very relaxed. I was asked about family support, study habits, what type of student I am (planner), etc. As far as directions go, if you follow the ones posted in the email, you will be fine. Once I got onto Broadway I didn't use my GPS at all and had no problems finding the garage/school. Good luck to us all :)

So would a black pant suit and flats or low heels be good or is that too dressy?

For those who attended the open house - was the information session and tour worthwhile? Was any new information shared at the session or a repeat of the information on the website? I am at least one year from applying. I think it would be motivating to see the campus and talk to students and counselors.

I think that would be fine. I'd say the dress is more business casual vs. formal. I wore slacks with a button down cardigan and heels.

Ok thanks Julia :)

I knew most of the basic things because I had researched on the web site. Most people there were not applying till the spring of 2015, so since I am applying for the Fall I had already knew most of the stuff. There were some things they shared that were helpful. Foe example, I did not know you had to have an interview to get accepted. And they also clarified some things for me. I would say to go because you still have a lot of time and they can help you on the applying process and if you haven;t researched a lot about the school and it's basic info, it is great! We got to speak with people from enrollment services and the Nursing Program Director. You also get to speak with Senior Nursing students. It was helpful, but I already knew a lot of what they were saying.

When the school told you that applicants needed an interview to get accepted were they stating that that would be effective spring 2015 or does that apply to us as well (fall 2014 applicants)?

There is a lot of conflicting information online about that topic.
