UTHSC Summer 2014 Application
I'm sorry you didn't get into UTHSC but congrats on getting into LoneStar. Also just so you know, Sam Houston State University's Fall BSN program's application deadline isn't until June if you wanted to apply there...

UTHSC Summer 2014 Application
Sorry to hear that Did you get an evaluation in the mail at all to make sure they evaluated all your courses correctly?

UT Houston (Fall 2014 applicants)
are you in the fb group? I posted a document given to me by an upperclassman that shows what the schedule for the first semester will be like. I believe its class Monday through Wednesday and a clinical on either Thursday or Friday depending on what you're scheduled.

@LindsayCrowe, I am! Well, I'll be commuting from my parents house in River Plantation and/or my grandmother's house in the Galleria area. I figure the days I need to be in class early or stay late, I'll just stay the night at my grandma's. I'm actually starting in the summer so I'll keep you posted on how the commute goes! and if our schedules are similar for the fall maybe we can carpool some days :)

We were referring to UTHSC Houston.

UTMB FALL 2014
The other's are correct, UTHSC only has the pacesetter now, which is a 15 month program. So I guess your decision just got harder I've been there, so I feel your pain! My heart said UTMB, my head said UTHSC. I made lists and weighed out the pro's and cons of each, and basically it came down to the commute for me (moving isn't an option) and the time in which I'll finish the program (starting summer at UTHSC vs. fall at UTMB). Ultimately I decided on UTHSC and will start this summer, so I'll be giving up my spot at UTMB. Both are great schools! Either way you'll be receiving a wonderful education and be a part of a great network of students and nurses. Good luck on your decision!

Call the number listed at the bottom of your acceptance email, if you haven't already. She was super helpful when I called the other day.

Same thing happened to me and many others. I contacted the school and was told that some of the summer students were accidentally included on the distribution list for the fall acceptance email as well.

I think they send the acceptances out in waves. For summer, a lot of us were notified on Feb 28th, then some at the end of the first week in March, and more recently I know of one person that was notified on March 20th.

You may be right. In my case, I'm glad they didn't dwell too much on my past academic history. My first two semesters I dropped most of my classes and failed a few. I ended up with an overall GPA of 3.3 for my BBA, but that was after working hard and retaking multiple classes. I'm just glad to have gotten in and that my work post degree (most pre-reqs and all science classes) were taken into account when making a decision.

I understand. I was trying to decide between the two for quite sometime. I did get a very friendly/relaxed vibe from the person who interviewed me at UTMB and truth be told, if it were closer I would have definitely chosen to go there (heart said UTMB, head said UTHSC). However, the only correspondence I've had with UTHSC has been through the admissions/registrar's office and I think it's unfair to judge the professors/entire staff by the emails from a few (probably highly overworked and extremely busy) persons.

I'm not sure why your eval says accelerated, but if you look at UTHealth's SON website the only BSN program available going forward is the Pacesetter which is 15months. As for UTH not caring about their students, what would lead you to make such a bold statement? I have heard nothing but positive reviews of the staff from previous SON students.

From what I understand, and everything I have read on the website, the school looks at your nursing prereq GPA and science GPA. Some people are including their overall GPA in their stats as well. The website specifically states: Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or better in the required 60 hours of nursing prerequisites, and a minimum of 3.0 or better in the required science prerequisites. It makes no reference to overall GPA.

UTMB FALL 2014
When you said scholarship, did you mean grant? I wasn't aware you could get a scholarship without first being accepted to the school.
