UT houston spring 2010 hopefuls

hi there, I'm a spring 2010 UT houston hopefull, I'm trying to see who else is embarking on this journey so we can support each other. I really enjoyed tracking the Fall 2009 class, and I hope we can do the same. I still have a few classes to take. I am currently taking chemistry. As of now my science GPA is 3.33, and overall gpa is 3.61. I am taking the net in May.

Can't wait to hear from others.

I don't really mind the waiting...its the thinking of plans for the next few months but not being able to finalize anything that is driving me batty. For some, getting into this program will be a life changing experience. I know for me it will be the start of a real career that I have been planning for years. The transition from getting an acceptance letter to the first day of classes will be a fast one. I guess I should appreciate the slow pace of these next few days.

there are several of us who need to know because we were just accepted to TWU yesterday but we have to accept their offer for admission by november 9, so not finding out from UTHSC until after november 15 poses a major problem

How does everyone feel? I wish I could tell how I felt more at this point...like are you guys feeling good like you are more than likely getting in or do you feel like its a long shot? I am just curious if anyone else feels indifferent like me. I think I am so up in the air because its SOOOOO out of my hands at this point. I have to admit I will probably cry and lay in a depression for a few days if I dont get in.

Holy smokes are you serious? Well if I were you you would have to almost accept the TWU offer by the 9th if you hadnt heard from UT because if you declined TWU without knowing your status of UT you could screw yourself BIG TIME you know? I feel for you guys! What if you accepted TWU by the 9th and then if you get into UT call TWU and cancel? Is that not allowed or what?

i highly doubt that's allowed, but we don't know for sure yet we are still waiting for our acceptance packets in the mail. we received acceptance emails last night

Congrats on the acceptance to TWU.:yeah: Take the offer! If UTHSC accepts you after the 9th then cancel TWU. I know it seems stressful, but at least you know you have 1 offer already.

I have no idea if I will get in. My GPA is good but not as good as others. My net scores were really good and I guess the interview went well. I just have no idea and it's making me crazy! I wouldn't say it was a long shot if i get in but I don't feel like I'm guarenteed anything. Hopefully we will know before November 15. :/

yeah i was accepted by A&M's nursing school this past week and they want to know by the 6th of november what my decision is. :/ sooooo not knowing about UTHSC is kinda...annoying. lol! it'll work out, i'm positive!

about getting in.... i have times where i'm pretty confident, but then other times where i just have no clue and at a loss. yeah i agree with bri...i think i'm in the same boat as her :)

I'm pretty sure if you accept somewhere you could still get out of it. I'm sure they wouldn't want you to unaccept because you got into a better school, but what if there were other reasons like financial or family reasons. I would look into how commuted you are once you accept. You still haven't paid them any money at that point so I'm sure the school doesn't count on anything until they get your tuition paid. Just a thought, I would hate for anyone to not accept somewhere and then not get into their first choice school. That would be the worst possible scenario.

does anyone know if uthsc has a waitlist? i was just gearing myself up for acceptance or rejection, but then the idea of a waitlist popped into my head. i'm not sure what i would do then... hm

I have heard that there is a waitlist but I am not sure if it applies to all programs within UTHSC-H.

Yes there is a waitlist because I found out a few months ago that people were being accepted into the Spring 2010 class which INFURIATED me and still does to be frank. After digging and finding more dirt there were multiple people who applied to the Fall 09 and were waitlisted and got acceptance packets for the Fall 09 at the last minute (week before class started) and then some others got packets for the Spring of 2010. It appears that some people dropped out of Fall 09 last minute and freed up some slots. I guess on a good note...if I wasnt accepted but waitlisted the road isnt over until the program actually starts because people got calls to come to the program a week before class. On a bad note why on earth would someone from a previous application pool be a shoo-in. They should be put in the mix with all of us and if they make the cut they make the cut. So....not to be Debbie Downer here but some of our slots were taken before we were even invited to interview....it sucks but thats the reality.

i emailed UTHSC today to find out when we will get our admissions decisions since some of us have been accepted to different schools and need to accept or decline the offer before November 15th. this is what i got back:

Hi,

Unfortunately, we have not made a decision yet. Letters will go out by the end of next week or sooner.
